Wexford Youths here too. Had a big rigmorale about never having or seeing the point of having a second team like Celtic and least lads now don't have to go to Waterford for their local footie fix but the system said I wasn't logged in when posted it and fcuked if I'm gonna retype it all !

I see you're in Waterford yourself. Used to work there so caught a few games but footie's just not for neutrals !

Looking at the schedule there's about 6 matches left that I can catch and three of them fecking involve Dundalk ! (incl one away, hopefully better than the last one there). Was hoping to catch an away close to Dublin i.e. Shelbourne, Kildare, Drogs. Would've particularly loved a trip to Tolka to see the lads play in the last game but should make the last home. After a relatively great start they've slipped badly at home although got a few draws away though. Anywhere off the bottom would be good or above Monaghan. Shelbourne and Kilkenny would be great.

Sure did u hear the eircom league is going to be on FIFA 2008 only the premier division though unless Mick Wallace can throw a few bob in there somewhere.

WexRed been to a few matches me self seen the two games against the blues down in the RSC but only been to 2 home games Limerick and Kilkenny in the league don't get back home that much but do keep and eye on the results. They have fallen badly but it was expected next season there will be a massive improvement. Mick, Pat Dolan & co. will have a lot more time to prepare the players unlike this season. The complex is unreal no club is near to it in the eircom league probably galway utd come the closest

Im a Drogheda man same as Stamullen Red above. Love the Eircom League, can't help it have grown up on the terraces of United Park try never to miss a game.
We go top if we can turn Bray over tonight.....ah you gotta love the Summer football, great replacement for Prem.

However my allegiance to the Drogs takes nothing away from the passion I have for Liverpool F.C

Ah Marko d Leecho's one of your mates then is he?....Pity he didn't make the grade at Drogheda, once Doolin has a disliiking towards a player they have no hope. Always remember him for the winner he scored in ET vs the Langers (Cork F.C.) in Setanta Cup 06.

Good talent though and definately got some of his Da's natural finishin' attributes

They've done extremely well regarding the setup and really had to throw a team together. A lot of away fans have been impressed by it and suppose intrigued by the novelty of a new club in an underexposed area of the country. I hear the squad has been trimmed from 28 to 22 now and the Under 21 team is full of Under 18s so trying to get them into the club earlier and be promoted to the senior team if good enough. Should work a lot better than the crash course in creating a squad literally from scratch.

Was shocked to hear my nephew was training up there with the Harriers (hurling!) Mick is a very clever fella alright like not going poaching any GAA footballers even though about 6 of the county team played under him when over the youth squads. A few soccer clubs complaining alright but hopefully progressing via the under 21 setup should ease that.

Heard Paul McGrath plays some footie up at the complex, has house in Wexford, but plays up front. Erm wonder if he'd fancy a job while he's about :)

Would love at some time in future a promotion simply to get to see them at aways in and about Dublin (including gracing United Park !). Never been a LOI head as there was no team I had an affinity with so its very weird to have one all of a sudden and as an adult to see other club's grounds for the first time and become more familiar with those clubs I never would've taken any notice of previously. I lived beside Tolka Park and never thought I'd see a Wexford team play there, my countymen would've been much more familiar with a different ground close by ! Its deffo a big adventure for those you had to make do with Waterford for years.

I always wonder could we take a leaf out of the GAA's book. I probably should be shot for many valid reasons its just I've seen the local reaction to the parochial nature of Wexford Youths and my niece and nephews wearing the jerseys (once they eventually came out). Reminded me instantly of GAA type support where the kids latched onto it immediately and felt it was their county team. Soon enough half my extended family had gone to matches. Maybe its just the area was deprived of a LOI presence but as soon as myself and my mates heard there were plans afoot we knew it'd be instantly very popular as was an oft made pub point. Not calling it Wexford Town FC or similiar probably helped.

I dunno has the likes of Kildare County experienced the same with natives identifying themselves with it as their team ?

Oh no i didn't i completely understand, its generally you completely disregard the eircom league or have a completely loyal support for it, nice to see your kind of in the middle! Mick leech is a complete legend, he played for them during the glory days that i was talking about earlier, and wow always remember Mark for that goal aswell, that was a great game!

It's great Wexford have Dolan on board too. He's done good things for LOI, your club is in good hands. He even turned down the Derry job to stay with Wexford and keep his pundit job on Setanta, fair play. I have heard its a great set-up down there and look forward to a cup meeting or even league (hopefully in the near future and in Prem not Div 1) to check out the new set-up.

Hope your all enjoying the summer football, I know I am and continue to give the LOI support in years to come. I understand it's difficult if you dont have a bond with a local club to get into it.

I also understand all the guys on here who only follow The 'Pool as this in itself can be a full-time job/luxury/addiction
