Crazy listening to sky yesterday. About pep, talking how outstanding his defences where at Munich and Barca and early years of city. Surely they have to be calling out the spending on city's defence and still shocking.
I cant understand it either, they never mention it. looks like they are signing another defender for 65 million
That team won't see any of their previous consistency until he gets a settled back 4 and sticks with it. He's been throwing blank cheques at it hoping it'll stick for awhile now. Long may it stay unsettled.
Was watching the boys on ESPN argue it out this morning and they may actually have a point (as opposed to their usual arguing with each other and ignoring the questions) Any time City get beat he invariably puts it down to "we didnt score enough goals" - now while that is obviously true, it also shows his mentality. Its Brazil 70 - you score 4, we dont care we can and will score 5, and look at the 350m of defenders he's bought - they all have one thing in common (and not they cant defend....maybe)- they are first and foremost, ball playing defenders. Playing out from the back is in my opinion to be applauded - but not to the detriment of being able to actually defend to a high standard. Stones is trotted out every 4 months in the hopes he magically became a solid defender Otamendi is off today, able to hit lovely 60 yard balls, but couldnt defend a bowl of spuds from an angry toddler Mangala - where the hell did he go? Garcia is going back to Barca at the end of the season (thats a whole other bowl of nuttiness) Cancelo - 60m - not trusted any further than the bench Walker -I swear if he wasnt so quick, he'd be lucky to get a game in a pub team The list of "elegant ball playing defenders" at man city who have abjectly failed is growing season by season. Having 3 different defenders give away pens in one game should be screaming, more goals aint the answer Pep. Lets hope he never realises it
If you look at the teams he had with decent defences, he inherited top players. Puyol, Pique at Barca, Neuter/Lahm at Munich, Kompany at City. World class reliable players. He made some Fck up not getting Virgil. He would have been the perfect replacement for Kompany.
Absolutely delighted seen Frank put out last night. Giving Jose one during the game. And had the cheek to talk about klopp few weeks past.
Everton seemed to have turn a corner. Get themselves a keeper and they will be up there for European spots
Brighton are a terrible team. Pass , pass , give it away and lose a goal. Everton have improved but Brighton making it so easy.
Big one tomorrow getting 3 points will be huge going into the break, the standards set over last 3 seasons by us and city is phenomenal hard to remember itbeing a focus for a title race right from the off as has been last 2 years now
Thought I heard a stat during the city game. City have lost 10 leauge games in the last 36 leauge games. Liverpool have lost 10 leauge games in the last 136 leauge games. Havnt checked it an dunno how accurate it is. But if close or near to being close. We are on another level entirely. Weve past city an left them in our smoke
Do you one better - last 4 years according to Transfrmkt Transfers in 415m Transfers out 206m and of that they had their own "Coutinho moment" getting 90m for Lukaku
