Lads in school used to put on the boiler suits and do 'Let it Rain' and 'Alright' at school discos. Girls as backing dancers and all. Would love if video phones had been around then, if only to show their kids :D

Surprised myself, but it turns out I'm a fan of Miley Cyrus. Been liking her stuff for a while, some very good covers too,her new song is brilliant and there's a mix of it with Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks that's even better again. Oh yeah....and Harry Styles is very good aswell.

I've always been of the opinion that very often, people's opinion of a song is down to who sings it or wrote it above anything else. There's a million songs that we think are shite, that if a band or artist we respect was singing it,or like in this case had an arrangement that makes it sound like the music we like, we'd praise to the heavens. I can think of 3 or 4 Harry Styles songs that if Noel Gallagher had of written and sung, loads of people who think they're shit, would love. If this was the original of this song, it would be the same situation.

Whole Again is a good song alright. Presumed Atomic Kitten had stolen it off someone else to be honest. With a Google I see it was written for them which i suppose is somewhere between just covering someone else's song and writing it yourself

Does it matter though? Covering a song, having songs written for you, it's all part of how the music industry works. The vast majority of Elvis's back catalogue is songs that were written for him or covers.

Depends if it suits the argument as to how good or bad someone is I suppose. The 'guitar bands' tend to write their own and pop bands who don't play their own instruments don't. A nice sweeping generalisation

1993. Was probably the year when chart music started getting decent again because from around 88, it was horrendous. House music all over the shop.

There is a show on Today FM on Sat morning I would often have on, starts at 11 and the DJ plays music from one year but does not tell you what year till the end. Some difference in the years, some weeks its a great slot others a couple of good tunes and then crap.
