Does anyone know much about a VPN and how you install it on your router or where in fact you install it? My IPTV guy is saying the TV companies have a block on the stick when there's European football on (which is what is happening me now) but they're working on a script to get by it (whatever any of that means). He said I could get around it with a non standard router (move away from Sky or Virgins own one) or getting a VPN. Anyone with any advice greatly appreciated.
Wouldn't know about installing a VPN on a router but there's plenty of VPN apps you can install on to your fire stick, probably best to search VPN in the app store to see which ones are available. There's loads of them, I use private internet access. You'll have to pay a monthly/annual fee to use it unfortunately so shop around. When you've installed it just open the app and choose a location and connect and then open your IPTV app, countries like Netherlands or Germany are apparently good for getting around blocks. I have a sky router and don't have to use a VPN for iptv, it's a provider issue not a router issue.
I read recently that sky (not sure about VM) are apparently rolling out new routers to their customers and they will be able to block IPTV services, no idea if/when it'll happen but the advice is to not accept the new router if it is offered.
A provider I know of , was having issues with Sky too, so they built an App with a VPN included and the people who were having issues with the Sky broadband seem to be sorted now.
