I had a dig around on some spurs forums today and as expected they are not a happy bunch. Some comments... He is under series pressure,I wounder what the odds are on him been the first manager to get the chop.Do you think these spurs fans are over reacting...?
Agree with what they say about Jenas he was woeful in both games, might as well of not been playing. They miss Lennon something serious for creativity from midfield. I asked the very same question after the game last night about what price Jol would be for the sack first. On another note thought Robinson was poor, should of had the third goal covered and caught in no mans land for crosses, no way is he a better keeper than Carson and James. 16m was not money well spent on Bent either, especially with Defoe already at the club. However they didn't start well last season either. I think they'll come good and claim their 5th place once Jol get's the players working hard for each other and playing as a team rather than palying as individuals. Dawson and King will steady the ship once they're back
Based on the media hype during the summer after their signings, alot of football pundits and supporters (not just Spurs) were starting to believe that Spurs had genuine hopes of crashing the top 4 party. Mourinho even had them down as title contenders for heavens sake! Personally I thought they were going to run Arsenal close for a CL spot, and they still could - afterall they still have 36 more games to go. Overall I think its just a normal reaction from disappointed supporters who were probably expecting more from their troops. They were most likely expecting to be top of the table this morning on 6 points when they first looked at the fixture list and not waking up this morning with zero points. No doubt their more than a little surprised and angry, hence the responses in that forum.
It must be tough to accept a 1-3 defeat to Everton, whatever about the Sunderland game. They knew Roy Keane would have full house and players all fired up and it can always be difficult coming up against newly promoted teams in their 1st games - we struggled against Sheff Utd opening game last season. They really should have done better last night. I thought they'd pass Everton off the pitch but it never happened. Their shape was dodgy - Robbie Keane RM? They were missing Dawson and King so defensively they were all over the place. Stalteri had an absolute nightmare at LB! Their 4 strikers look as if they're not talking to each other and Berbatov has started slowly. But I agree with sean - there's still 36 games to go! I personally don't think they'll get top4 though - in CM they're just too weak compared to ourselves (best in Europe?), Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal
I'd have to agree with the above, very lightweight at the back without King and Dawson(personally think he's overrated but miles better than Gardner). You'd have to ask questions about Jol's defensive signings, he spent good monety on Kaboul and Rocha though they might just need a period of adjusment. Zakora and Jenas are decent but not world class. Look particulary vunerable defensively when played alongside Keane and Malbranque.
Think its a bit of an over reaction myself as they are missing three of the normal back four whick would hurt any team, everton beat them at home last year too, i reckon they will come good !
I agree they're over reacting. They're just getting off to a bad start to the season, only two games gone.....we can all sympathise though with bad starts tho
No doubt that fans are over-reacting but they were fairly poor all the same last night. Then again if we were missing 4 or 5 first teamers we might have struggled too. Funny the way Gardner lost Lescott for 1st goal and then Lescott lost Gardner for equaliser!!! Maybe they had money on each other scoring...
