I've noticed that, although we had over 1000 members on the old site, only 200 odd have signed up for this one. Was everyone notified of the move via e-mail?
Hi Stevieg is correct, to an extent ... although there are also a few other reasons too ! * There were a number of duplicate accounts on the old site, which were created over time when people forgot their passwords etc * There were a few spammers, mancs etc who were registered on the old board but thankfully have not made their way across to this site (fingers crossed they never will !) * We fear a few members have gotten lost along the way ... although it's probably fairly safe to say some of these were only able to access the net in college etc and will hopefully be back with us come the start of the new season (educational or footie ) Interestingly, I was chatting with a couple of the others Mods here recently & we had noticed that while the number of registered members was far less than the old number of circa 1,000 .... the number of active members on the site each day has actually increased on average (so I guess we've got all the quality people here) ! We will probably send out one or two more final reminders about the move over to this new board around the start of the new Premiership season etc to try and bring back some more of our old friends. Obviously, if you happen to know anyone who does not appear to have come over to this new site, or might have an interest, please feel free to send them the link etc
Garreth has most of it covered so i don't have much to add.Try to remember one thing I wanted to make the move in the off season when the site is slow just to give us time to check things out at a nice pace. We are getting new members all the time its hard to tell if these are actually new members or people migrating from the old site.I will be sending out one or two more emails but I don't want to be spamming peoples in boxes as I hate spam myself. We are very confidant the members list will grow again giving time, after all this is the third incarnation of the site and we keep going from strength to strength.
The numbers will grow again when the season starts and people come will be on thinking we print tickets here ! maybe a bit synical but i bet it will turn out to be true !
Also on the 'old' IrishKop you had to log in to view the forum while on this 'new' IrishKop you dont have to log in to browse the forums so people dont have to register. Its probably better this way as more then likely the people who do register will be the ones to post on the forum.
I am thinking about changing this back to require people to register,I am undecided both have there pros and cons.
Hi all. I only found out about the old site last january when I travelled with the irish kop group to Sheff U game ( I had my own tickets). I think when the season starts and the travel groups start up again, then youll see a swell in members. A lot of people also join for the champions league (some were looking for tickets, but most were fans who found a place to post). People posting looking for tickets is enevitable and if it is to enable our community to grow then Im all for it and Ill help out anyone I can. I think there will be a doubling of numbers in the next 3 weeks.
ya i noticed alot of new people on the old site when we got to the semi,s of the c.l. and i never saw them again after the final
As many here have said, the number of people on the site will rise once the season starts again. They are absorbed with GAA and holidays at the moment. There is little or no doubt that many beggars will surface telling us that they or there significant others are life long fans and I suggest that people should keep the members posting these days to the forefront of their minds when ticket swaps etc are available. PS: That forced login on the old site was a pain. Please dont put it back Dub13!!
If reder's new avatar can't attract some members then I suppose we'll have to rely on football ....welcome back kiddo, does this mean the 'protest' is over...
I have to decided to bring that campaign to an end. My posts will never return. Time to accept that and move on. Avatars like my current one help me to do that.
Hmm yeah the avatar is interestingI cant exactly say i like it cause that would sound weird I found the old site by accident really. Delighted I did tho. I went on to an English pool site before, cant remember what it was but everyone seamed to be quite mean to others about their opinions. Very controversial comments. My first post and i got abuse back saying I was only new and didnt know what i was talking about. Think it turned me off message boards for a while
Eh not to me it would'nt (sorry !) Been there too .... sadly, there are some people online who are like that, don't even give new members a fair chance to learn the website's practice etc. Anyway, glad you've realised we're all very nice here
