Whats the UEFA Cup - well thats the trophy that the great men that were Shanks and Paisley won when in charge of us for starters.

I was of course referring to the trophy we'd actually win next May if we went all the way instead of referring to the name of a competiton that UEFA will probably change the name of again in the next few months  If it bothers people maybe some mod will show mercy and change the thread title!

    :D

Do you know - I actually think it's a beautiful looking trophy - simple clean look to it and the base is really nice. And this is one of my favourite images...

True.Well they did need some way to separate the crap from the well bigger crap:) and then there's us and Juve in the middle through no fault of our own.
Seriously though have nothing against the tournament whether it's called the UEFA or Europa League.Just think there's way too many teams and it seems to drag on forever.Sadly I think we better get used to it as it's where we are at unfortunately until new owners come calling.

From my looking at the draw as it is laid out with the groupings of the seeds on the UEFA site I think that Liverpool can only meet 5 different teams

    Stabaek/Dnepr
    Beroe
    Rabotnicki/Mika
    Honka/Bangor City
    Zrinjski/Tre Penne

    http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/draws/index.html

The reason I say this is if you look down the left side of the draw amoung the seeded teams.

    Liverpool are at the top
the 6th in the draw are Juventus
    then 11th are Sporting

so that would make it away trips to either

    Stabaek/Dnepr
    Norway/Croatia

    Beroe
    Bulgaria

    Rabotnicki/Mika
    Macedonia/Armenia

    Honka/Bangor City
    Finland/Wales

    Zrinjski/Tre Penne
    Bosnia/San Marino (Italy)

Thats a great spot Lionel. Nothing confirmed by UEFA yet but they do state that there will be 7 groups of 10 teams (half seed, half unseeded) and they way there are laid out on that draw list you could very well be spot on.

All three Irish teams have the exacts same coefficient and are all unseeded but should they progress to the 3rd round they take over the coefficent of the teams that they would have beaten.

Dundalk are been beaten 0-4 at the moment 64 mins gone

it would be a great away draw for our cash strapped club. They might even go on the train from Runcorn again :D
