Reference: Northern Ireland Branch of SOS: - Good Morning Everyone, Just a brief note to confirm with you all that our first meeting as the 'Official' Northern Irish Branch of "The Spirit of Shankly - Liverpool Supporters Union" will be on Thursday 26th August commencing at 6.15pm - in the 'Pavilion Bar', Ormeau Rd, Belfast As before I have put in a request that a member of the Main Union visits us as a guest speaker and updates us all on the progress regarding the main issues of concern at present, this request so far has been met with a positive response and therefore I would ask that once again we promote ourselves in a positive light with a large turn-out. All are welcome whether they are in the SOS already, awaiting their membership approvals or even just contemplating joining at the present time. As long as you share our love of Liverpool and are open to the aims of the Union they we look forward to meeting you If any of you envisage transport problems getting here then please let me know and I will see if anyone else from your neck of the woods is planning to attend that could perhaps share travel costs with you. Also, let me know if you have any specific issues that you would like me to enquire about prior to the meeting. Nb. The manager/owner of the premises advises me that the Liverpool F.C. Europa cup match will be on the big screen tvs downstairs again. YNWA, Rodney Doherty

Just to let everyone know that we need to organise a meeting to get this off the ground and elect a proper committee for the branch. We may stick a thread up soon looking for suggestions to were it should be held and when
Just to keep you all in the loop. The SOS are sending out a letter to all Irish members to inform them about this new branch, thats why there has been a slight delay we want to give everybody a chance to join.
just wondering if anything e.g dates, venues etc are set, i got the email and that but havent heard anything new since being asked to send my sos details and that!
Dear Member, I am writing to you as we have been contacted by members of the irishkop website who are have a large community base of SOS members who are keen to assist in setting up a Spirit of Shankly Republic Of Ireland branch. They have been in touch with us and we are giving them as much backing and support that we can to make this a reality. Although the branch is likely to be based in Dublin the branch would be open to all in the Republic Of Ireland. The Union would not rule out opening another branch within Southern Ireland if there was enough support for it.We have about 180 members covered in the Dublin area. We will not release any of your personal information to those setting up the branch but if you would like to email them at irish.branch.sos@gmail you can confirm that you would be keen to get involved. Information about how branches work can be found at http://www.spiritofshankly.com/documents/ LSU_Constitution.pdf (sections 5.9 to 5.45). It would be brilliant if we could create a Republic Of Ireland branch - to do so will give you a greater say and involvement in Union affairs. All the best Graham Smith Assistant Secretary
Looking good for the SOS - Republic of Ireland Branch If we, your fellow Liverpool supporters in the North can be of any help don't hesitate to contact us on northernireland@spiritofshankly.com YNWA
Exactly, if you've already sent your e-mail there is no need to do it again, the e-mail sent by SOS was for the benefit of members who are not on ik or rawk

Could one of the organisers of the Southern Ireland branch urgently contact myself Rodney Doherty (Chair of the Northern Ireland Branch) as I have a meeting set up tomorrow with DFDS Seaways (Norfolkline) regarding discounted Union travel between Belfast & Liverpool. I would need some details from you (And your permission) to ask for a similar arrangement regarding Dublin to Liverpool Union travel for the nenefit of your branch members if that is OK? I can be mailed on northernireland@spiritofshankly.com
SOS Branches Update Monday 6th September 2010 The Spirit of Shankly are pleased to announce that branches in Northern Ireland and Norway have now been established. Rodney Doherty, Chair of SOS Northern Ireland said "Northern Ireland' Liverpool Supporters are proud to be at the forefront of this exciting local branch initiative, and while we are not from Liverpool we are none the less passionate supporters of Liverpool Football Club and collectively believe that only we, the supporters, can force the necessary changes going forward for the good of the club and city. Therefore we urge all Northern Irish supporters to come on board with us at: - northernireland@spiritofshankly.com" SOS Northern Ireland held a meeting on Thursday 2nd September where about 80 members and supporters attended and heard from main Committee members Paul Gardner and Peter Carney. The Norway branch has in excess of 50 members and Trond Arnfinn Vollevik said "Our members want to support the work of the LSU by spreading the word in Norway, to contribute with the development of a supporter owned club and improve the travel conditions for Norwegian Liverpool supporters.". You can join the Norwegian Branch by emailing norway@spiritofshankly.com. The addition of these two branches takes the number established to five although this number is likely to increase by the establishment of a US and Southern Irish branches in the near future. If you would like more information about the established branches then please visit the Representation page or email overseas@spiritofshankly.com. If you are interested in setting up a branch in the UK or elsewhere in the world then please review the files on the Branch Documents page which give the background of how they can be established and guidelines for running them
