Liverpool have refused to let Salah join the Egyptian squad for the forthcoming games with Angola and Gabon, due to concerns over Covid.

Update …. Liverpool are willing to release Salah for the Gabon game, as Gabon is an amber-list country. Egypt is red list, which would mean he would have to quarantine upon his return.

Liverpool say same principle applies to any player who is being asked to travel to a red-list country, and would therefore have to quarantine upon their return. If quarantine rule was lifted, players would be allowed to travel.

I think he’s allowed play Gabon away but not the home game in Egypt. Delighted to see this. All our players should be banned from travelling to red list countries

I wonder how Salah feels about this? You'd hope he's ok with it and the club are just taking the brunt of what criticism comes.

Because you can still contract, carry and transmit the virus.

100 EPL goals ! We really hit the jackpot with this lad. A Godsend.
T.G. but HOW does he never get injured?! He's made of steel what with the hacking he gets in games!
He even avoids the niggly injuries others get ! Just immense....

His 100% record of penos had to come to an end some time and it didn't cost us a result and he was unstoppable again. His work off the ball is outrageous as well as been frightening going forward.

    He didn’t have a 100% record though
He was on a consecutive streak alright but missed one before

It's not so much missing the penalty as scoring the next one. Get back on the horse. His strength is incredible, mental and physical. Hope to God he is happy to sign a new deal. If he insists on getting what he could get out there, I don't think we can match it, regardless of how much we break our model.

So under appreciated is this fella I think. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves . Don’t think he ever will either because he is not a traditional number 9.

27th and 28th goal in European Cup for Liverpool, 2 behind Steve's record, another milestone in sight. I wonder how far apart both parties are in the wage negotiations? Also found it a bit odd he wasn't selected as one of the 6 captains in the squad.

I'm not sure that matters to be honest, not everyone is comfortable taking on leadership roles and if Salah is happier to just concentrate on his own game then that's perfect, whatever he's doing now is working spectacularly so as the old saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Incredible how good this chap is, let them all keep salivating over Ronaldo and Kane, we've a guy neither of them can hold a flame to!

Genuine question, would anyone swap him for another player in the world?

He is just incredible! In all my years being a Red, he’s very quickly becoming one of my favourite players of all time. Even when people are saying he’s poor, ( or a one season wonder :)) he just goes about putting the ball in the net. I really hope his contract is sorted sooner rather than later, as so far this season, his value is only increasing!

There was a story last year that he had asked to be made a team captain and has ambitions to be THE captain. I think that's where LFCRebels surprise comes from. But as Klopp said, it's a democratic vote amongst the players, they all get a chance to nominate who they want, so Mo obviously didn't crack the top 6 in voting by his peers.

As to your question as to who would you swap him for, just purely from an economic and long term view if it, I'd swap him for Mbappe and Mbappe only. If it was just for this season, I'd maybe consider Messi just for the romance of having the greatest player of all time play for Liverpool. But at the moment, I think Salah is the best player in the world.

And as for his contract situation, I'd pay him whatever it takes to make sure he retires as a Liverpool player. Give him every chance to break as many records as he can.

pretty smart for the club to get the core of the squad signed up to long term deals before Mo. If Mo signs a new deal, it will put him levels above the other players, however they are all on long term deals already. If nothing is signed by January, real prospect he could leave next summer. Barca, Real and even PSG (If Mbappe Leave) would be in the market. Have a feeling Spanish FA/government are going to somehow cook it so Barca and Real can get back to the top of the game.
