I was part of the group who met with the independent panel on Saturday. We spent over 4 hours giving account of the day. My opinion based on the first hand experience meeting them is that I believe they are independent, they were thorough and really focused on specifics. Their tone was sympathic and empathic. There were members on the panel who have experience of being a voice for the football fans. One was an acting solicitor on behalf of the Hillsborough families. And another who is a well known activist for football supporters rights. However it will be their report but it then gets handed over to UEFA were I'm less optimistic. But anyone involved or felt the day had a negative impact on them I can assure you, you were very well represented.
regarding our own case against uefa i received this I was hoping to receive a further update from Leigh Day in the UK .I haven’t received any further information to date. . As per our earlier communication with Leigh Day please see below the current position as we see it . Unfortunately I don’t think Coleman Legal will be in a position to take on your case however if we receive any further feedback I will let you know. I would advise that you take a 2nd opinion in this matter to satisfy yourself and your colleagues. We reached out to Leigh Day regarding these cases and Clare Campbell reverted to us. She advised that they are only at the very early stages of the case but would be happy to speak to us in a few weeks when there is some progression. She advises that they only intend to act for those residing in England and Wales. We don’t see a potential for bringing the cases here in Ireland, it is likely to be either in France where the incidents took place, or in the place of residence of the organisation that sold the tickets (UK, possibly Spain also, but again that will require investigation). Once we have spoken to Clare further in a few weeks we will revert Please note that the statute of limitations is 2 years from the date of injury which means that you have 2 years from the date of the injury to pursue a claim .
Brilliant documentary last night. A very tough watch to relive it again, a miracle nobody died that day.
