Got this from another site....very interesting if you like useless stats like me.

Club matches that have attracted a crowd of 100000 or more in the UK. The results were quite interesting.

There have been 110 club matches in total to exceed 100000 crowds -

Games played in England - 55 games
    35 teams (2 foreign)
Games played in Scotland - 55 games
    14 teams (3 foreign)

There are only 4 grounds that have reached the magic number -
    Crystal Palace
    Wembley
    Hampden
    Ibrox

The list below gives the amount of times each club has played in front of a crowd of 100,000 or more in the UK -

    40 Rangers
    26 Celtic
    12 Man United
    10 Liverpool
    9 Aberdeen, Spurs
    7 Arsenal
6 Aston Villa, West Ham, Man City, Everton, Hibernian,
4 Notts Forest, Leeds, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Morton,
3 Sunderland, Bolton, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Chelsea, Norwich, St Mirren,
2 Blackpool, West Brom, Preston, Southampton, Brighton, Clyde, East Fife,
    Dundee, Hearts, Dunfermline, Eintract Frankfurt,
1 Sheffield United, Newcastle, Birmingham, Luton, Blackburn, Burnley, Sheffield
Wed, Fulham, Ipswich, QPR, Watford, Stoke, Benfica, Munich 1860, Real Madrid

The Nou Camp is too big as it is. It doesn't seem so world class when you're sitting up in the rafters (on expensive tickets) looking at a subbuteo match. Probably the nicest stadium I've ever been in was the Hamburg one just a fortnight ago. 57k capacity I think and it felt like a real football stadium but plenty of leg room, moulded seats, covered and beer in your hand, just couldn't fault it. Was *very* steep so nobody was too far away from the pitch, pure class we, Irish English Welsh and German, were all gob smacked.

The thought that this now wouldn't qualify to hold a club final, considering everybody got searched and you had to scan the barcode on your ticket to get through the automatic turnstiles after the search, is ludicrous.

Do they have a standing section in Hamburg, or it the 57k capacity completely all seated? You can't beat those grounds with steep stands, increases the atmosphere ten fold at a game.

I have never been in a better stadium all things considered that the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. That includes the Camp Nou and the Bernabeau. Old Wembley was vast but soulless, new Wembley should be interesting when we get there

It was hard to tell. Behind one goal was the hardcore Hamburg 'Kop' and they looked to be standing but could've been standing in front of their seats. They were being orchestrated singing and chanting wise by a guy with his back to the whole game, very similiar to what I saw at Espanyol last year. At the other end in one corner was what looked like a fenced in section for the away fans and they were certainly standing, could've been free standing alright. They were loud and in unison with what looked like hiel hitler arm movements, seriously.

In short it was a proper footie stadium built for footie fans to watch footie and had all the neccessary security arrangements outside. None of this multi-purpose sh1te with running tracks and needing binoculors if in some upper tier. UEFA could do worse than giving 25k tickets to each CL finalists knowing those ticket holders are the only ones that could possibly get in and massively reducing their bullshit allocation.

There's deffo a big part of me that wonders is there any point in a football stadium going bigger than 60k. I think it loses intimacy after that point. Like I'm glad the new Lansdowne is going to be ~50k there's no need for a big fcuk off national stadium. Maybe you have to use the big ones for major finals but for everything else quality is more important than quantity. It has got me thinking about the new Anfield.
