    Police launched raids on Newcastle, Portsmouth and Rangers today as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in football.

    The raids were instigated by the City of London police, who revealed that search warrants were executed this morning.

    The investigation is completely separate to the inquiry carried out by Lord Stevens and his firm Quest into alleged illegal payments in Premier League football.
