Here is a bit of info on the history/background of the site.IrishKop was setup way back in Sept 2003,back then we were using the now very dated looking Yahoo Groups/clubs format.Even with the site looking very armature and some would say 'tacky' the group thrived and kept getting bigger and bigger. Here are a couple of screen shoots of the first version. Here is a Link to the Yahoo group if you are a sentential bugger. As time went by it became clear that we had outgrown the Yahoo group,so I set of on a search for a better format. This brought us to version two of IrishKop.On Jan 9 2006 we went live with the Invision version, this served us well and the site got very big and alot more active and was most definitely a step up from the yahoo group. It was some time on this setup that I purchased the www.irishkop.com domain so people could find us fast, this was a major success. Here are a couple of screen shoots of the second version. Here is a Link to Version Two So this brings us to our final resting place, this version has been very very popular and I can not see us moving. We moved over to this format in June 07,Alot of time and effort went into this and I had no problem doing it as I was fully confidant the idea for this kind of site was sound. We will keep improving and adding things on but the forum will stay as vBulletin as it is simply the best forum software you can get.So don't worry no more reregistration. I would like to thank you all for your support over the years whether you are with us from the Yahoo days or this week as it is you the user who make this site work.So happy birthday all,and lets hope we have many many more.
I just copied this thread and put it in here to give any new members a bit of background info on were the site has come from.
in a slightly related note i clicked the link to look at the old site and it says on it its mal5times birthday today, happy birthday mate!!
I stumbled across version 2 in the build up to last seasons champions league final and its a great site, run very well with the interest of the club and its supporters the priority(Not like one other site I wont give the publicy of mentioning). The legends night, organised trips and fund raisers are a credit to the people who spend so much of their spare time putting together for the benefit of others. Its funny as I used this username for many other forums since 2002 and this site turns out to be the reverse I should have a got a copyright
LOL I'd not count on getting any dosh out of Dub13 in a hurry mate, he's got a young family to feed .. not to mention LFC tickets to buy
was nice to read up on a bit of the sites history, thanks for the knowledge. the site is great, I hope to see it continue to get better.
Yes I seen that, and we broke our record of users online a couple of days ago.Imagen what it will be like when the team start to play well.....
This is without doubt, the best supporters forum I have seen. I have seen a few of the forums for other clubs and they just look poxy and very difficult to navigate. This though, the ease of use and the format is top notch. Thanks
Its a great site with great people on it, some of us has been around for many years and some only a few months, not too many go away, and is growing all the time, there's nothing better than word of mouth, we are well respected in liverpool with all the charity work that we have been involved with & supporting the HJC and long may we continue to help each other and support a brilliant club LFC and YNWA folks.
I like the site . New at this footie forum lark till I joined up and I got to say its a good place to spend some time and share the crack and our love of the Reds. Great bunch of folk here too and well informed - far more than me . Thanks Dub 13 . ( oh and the LOI section is a real bonus )
Fantistic Site Fantastic People FAntastic Club this site is a testement to the type of person Paul is for getting it started and sticking with it through the early days ( im sure there were times when he thought it wasnt worth it ) i hope those days are few and far between now and also a credit to the top notch people that are on this site. In the time i have been on this site the club has had ups and downs The Rafa debacle that devided people on the site cancer and aids the email campaigns the court hearing roys tenure and then the return of the king I cant think of better people ( weather i know you personally or just as a username on this site ) i would have wanted to go through all that Keep up the good work YNWA
Fitting tribute to a great piece of work. Could only add to this by saying that I have met some great people via the site, who all share the same love and passion for our great club. Onwards and upwards Irishkop and LFC. YNWA
First time I've read about the history of the site didn't know in went back to 2003 since j joined in 2007 there hadn't been a day I've missed on here but in the early days i didn't always post. Well done Paul and everyone else involved in the set hoots a great site with great people for a great club YNWA
Cheers for bumping Glen, was a good read. I don't use any other forums, never did really, and I've tried to use others since, but just didn't like them. This one was just perfect and easy to use, and the people are great from the start. Can't stop checking the site and posting. I'm addicted. If IK was to go out of business. I'd stop going on forums, and have an extra few hours in each day. Although I would be totally bored out of my tree.
Brilliant stuff, well done for all your efforts through the year's,top notch stuff, long may it continue
wow on the go since 2003 well done to all for your dedication to the sight im still a newbie but loving the sight already
