Im close to giving up trying

I was at the game yesterday with my daughter my best mate and his daughter anyway as much as i love my mate he drives me up the wall when it comes to LFC. He is still under the impression that liverpool should be challenging for the title, oblivious to the fact we have made a profit in 4 consecutive transfer windows, blames rafa for spending 200m and not a clue about how much he had to take back in.

We went down to liverpool 1 and he spent a small fortune in the club shop despite my pleas to him about what that money was being used for. I went down to the HJC shop to get one of the justice scarves but my mate went to the club shop and bought the latest scarf.

I told him about SOS and he said he doesnt have the time to go to "supporters clubs" meetings

Its absolutely head wrecking and he is a prime example of the head in the sand/barstool brigade that is handicapping us in the fight against the owners

Unfortunately your mate is in a majority of worldwide Liverpool fans who support Liverpool part-time for 90 or 180 minutes a week and couldn't give a toss about how the club is run. While this is the case it's a losing battle.

Well said mate. Sadly there are too many of these barstool fans but it is the job of us, the enlightened, to educate the deluded among our fan base. I know it is tough but we must do it. If they decide to pump money into the Loan Interest Repayment Account after we have shown them the error of their decision, so be it, there isn't a lot more we can do, but at least you will have tried and the more they hear it, the more likely it is that some of it will stick!

    i call these fans

    "tabloid supporters"

they're the type of muppets you see down in the pub, wearing the latest jersey, and spouting the days back page headlines from The S*N,

they also belive everything they hear on Sky Sports News as well

this is the biggest reason i CANNOT watch football in a pub, i cant stand these tabloid supporters, no brain numpties that dont know their arse from a hole in the ground

Its the way things are going and hence why atmosphere is poor last few years.

Fans getting tickets and spending the whole 90 mins looking around the ground and taking pics and recording instead of getting behind the team and supporting them on.

Was at the hull home game 2 seasons ago and there was 2 irish lads next to me who where more concerned in sneeking in their bottles of carlsberg they had bought in the bar and having sneeky cigarettes during the match.

To make it worse lucas was warming up and one of them was like " fuxk sake rafa why isnt torres playing and only warming up you are a joke of a manager, someone just turned around and said " Torres is injured you dickhead, thats lucas down there". shut him up for the final few minites anyways.

Thats what comes with supporting a big club.

The difference between us and say port vale is we have milions of casual fans who pump in the cash so we can pay the likes of torres wages. Like it or not if we only had the die hards we wouldn't be in the premier league let alone the top half of the table.

Don't get me wrong I'm totally against giving the club a penny at the moment but the main attraction for any one considering buying us is the fact we're a world wide brand with a huge international fan base

You can disagree with how they support the club but we need them

I work with a few of them. Sound lads but clueless and I try to avoid talking about LFC with them. One of them said to me the other day, about the owners + sale of club: "Ah well, they're buisnessmen so you've to expect them to make a profit"
This was after his usual "Lucas is total sh1te" rant:rolleyes:

There will always be 'fans' who are only interested in results and if they ever go manage to Anfield they will spend a fortune in the shop. This is just a fact of life and to be honest, usually doesn't bother me. It just wrecks my head when they open their gobs + suddenly become 'experts' in everything Liverpool related

As much as i hate to say it these fans outnumber real fans.

For every fan who wears the protest shirt thousands will buy the repicla shirt.

For every fan who boycotts matches, one daytripper will happily take his seat.

For every fan who boycotts the club shop, hundreds of daytrippers will flood in to get thier hands on all the merch they can.

As others have said there is so many of them out there, sure you just have to look at some of the we have on this site to realise they are everywhere.

I rarely ever go to the pub to watch a match, because of having to listen to these type of people, though the streams so far this season are really testing my patience.

Thats why usually they don't bother me. In better times their cash is much needed. The problem is its not helping us now.

In my eyes, a fan is a fan. All ignorant fans need to be educated - spread the word, don't alienate them just because they don't understand - I'm always proud to see a pool jersey, even a new one - but given the chance, I tell it how it is - YNWA (Equally, I get physically sick seeing a big fat lard wearing a scum top!)

This was a point i was making in the boycott thread about the majority of fans that are going to the games.

Define a 'Barstool - head in the sand' fan or' tabloid fan' for me please - i appear to be one of the un-enlightened who is not losing any sleep over the financial plight of the club, isnt in SOS or any other organisation and it would appear 'hasnt a clue whats going on at the club'...oh wait , i get it .....i'm not a real fan. You truly do have to cringe at the nauseating hubris of a few who think they can pontificate to the many when they get on tehir high horse on this pseudo-moral crusade. i dont go to matches anyway so maybe i am a real fan...god i'm so f**kin confused

In essence its the difference between a fan and a supporter.

Fans generally speaking don't, and won't see the bigger picture, they have no interest in the way this club is being run, their only interest is not being able to show their face to their United supporting mates after our latest result.

At the moment, a supporter now means doing whatever you have the ability to do, to put pressure on the club & RBS to rid us of the cancer that is bleeding this wonderful club dry. But the 'whatever' has to be a personal choice, and therein lies the problem.

For me footballing results are beyond insignificant this year, or at least, until after October hopefully.

Agree, hate the one upmanship and "hierarchy" that is going on between fans.
The ultimate irony however is how people use the term "day tripper" on this site.
My opinion is that if you see/hear a fan doing/acting stupidly, have a word with them about it, dont come on here shouting about it to make yourself seem a better fan.
