At last FIFA see sence...rotation of the finals between different continents was never a runner from the start IMO.
China will get a world cup soon as they have the faculty's and its a huge huge market, that would be a nightmare IMO.
Whats the chances of the new landsdowne road getting some games if the UK wins the bid? Nil I suppose.
Not a hope in hell, sure their will be massive competition between all the grounds in England to get games so why should they look outside.
China have had enough for a while with the Olympics. So has London too, and the States had the World cup a while back Oz will get it - watch this space
If we did not make a mess of the joint bid with Scotland for Euro 08 we would be looking forward to an very interesting summer.
That would have been something wouldn't it. There would have been a good chance that the new stadium in Abbotstown would have been built as well, or at the very least the new Landsdowne would be up and running. The nations attitude to the footballers would have been completely different, and I imagine there would have been some amount of Irish flags waving all over the country. And could you have imagined the scramble to get tickets for the games next summer! But we're stuck with the reality, and what a contrast. Still waiting on our new stadium to be built, no hope of qualifying, and lads offering tickets for the upcoming games left, right and centre. Oh well, fingers crossed for the next campaign
I think it will be between Russia and China...Australia have not enough interest in the game, so it wouldn't make economic sense...but on the other hand, Russia and China's economy are booming and will continue to grow...there's also the issue of proximity...my money's with Russia...
I really doubt Russia would get it. Their bid for Euro 08 was an absolute shambles and I couldn't see them being higher than England in the pecking order for the WC in 2018.
I think external factors would be taken into consideration also, especially the fact that they will host the olympics in 2012...and lets fact it...if SA can host the world cup with their infastructure and economy, anyone can...
