http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...midfielder-javier-mascherano-100252-26601844/ Rafa Benitez’s football is my football says Liverpool FC midfielder Javier Mascherano Jun 7 2010 Liverpool Echo Comments (12)Recommend 12next LIVERPOOL midfielder Javier Mascherano believes former coach Rafael Benitez would be the ideal man to replace Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan. And his words have sparked fears that the Argentine could be set to follow him to the San Siro. Inter president Massimo Moratti is set to meet Benitez in Sardinia and a deal could be sealed in the next 48 hours. It will be daunting for someone to step into Mourinho’s shoes after the former Chelsea manager steered the Nerazzurri to the Champions League crown before leaving to Real Madrid, but Mascherano believes his former boss has the perfect credentials. “Only Benitez could take the place of a coach like Mourinho,†said the Argentina international. “He is a great coach. "He has charisma, personality, a winning mentality. “Moreover, he will find himself brilliantly in Italy because of the tactical game. Rafa studies everything on the table and directs the team from the bench like a orchestra conductor. “Inter have made a good choice. After Mourinho, he is the only man capable of continuing Inter’s winning run.†Mascherano has spent the past three years at Anfield but contract negotiations have currently been put on hold. The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona last summer and admits he could soon leave Liverpool. “Would I follow Benitez? I don’t know,†he said with a shrug. “At the moment I really know little about my future. “But of course with Benitez at Liverpool I experienced three incredible years. His football is m football.â€
not surprised by this to be honest. Mash is always mouthing off, if he wants to go, let him go, lets not have the same crap as previous years
If it means the new boss can use the funds offered for Masch then maybe he will be allowed to leave this time round.
Rafa to sign for Inter Too much talk for it not to be true. Just thinking - they will love him at the start for Istanbul. Inter players on the other hand might take a bit of adjusting. Jose was very hands on when it comes to man managment and we all know Rafa is not a man manager (just read Stevies auto).
Mash does a bit too much mouthing for my liking. Think its time to get rid of him. Will be sorry to see him go but dont want a repeat of last season will he wont he leave.
swap deal would do nicely - they take masch and we get schneider and motta/cambiasso. masch surely rated in the 30m bracket. if it was a straight sell i'd fear teh money would jsut go to service debt so swap deal mite be the order of the day. not sure if rafa'll rate schneider as highly as mourinho as i think he was offered as part exchange in the alonso deal and wasnt interested. i agree tho that i dont want a repeat of last years 'will he wont he' saga, its headwrecking. I wonder is mrs. mascherano fluent in italian tho
I fail to see what he said thats upset people. Every word is the truth. I expect similar from Torres,Lucas,Kuyt and others in the next couple of weeks.
Rafa may have a winning mentality but can anyone here say he had charisma and personality? He always came across very detached except when taking a few sarcastic pops at people which was entertaining. As for 'his football is my football', I really dont know where to start on that one so wont bother.
Whenever he was relaxed I thought he was very charismatic! I remember him throwing in little jokes about telling Masch to use his height against Crouchy and things like that! Under pressure he seems to be a completely different man!
I don't want to see Mascherano go, unless a swap for Sjneider would be on the cards. I'm not sure Rafa rates Sjneider and he has a good few friends at Liverpool
Mascherano learning Italian http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=796198&sec=transfers&cc=5739 Javier Mascherano has fuelled rumours he may be set to join Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan after revealing he is learning Italian. Mascherano, currently on international duty with Argentina at the World Cup, has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield as Liverpool may be forced to sell star players to balance the books. The Italian press has suggested Benitez could make Mascherano his main transfer target and it appears the midfielder may be considering a move to Serie A. "I am learning Italian while I'm here in South Africa," he said. "I don't know what I will do after the tournament. We shall see."
