    Name one better?

    World Champ x 4

    European champ x 3

    Olympic gold medalist x 1

Nobody comes close to Katie for what she has achieved. In my eyes Irelands greatest sporting person ever and will take some beating.

As for today was absolutely class to see the turn out for both her and Adam they both deserved it.

Taylor crowns golden day for Irish women's boxing

Katie Taylor capped off a hugely successful weekend for Irish women's boxing by winning her fifth successive EU Championship title in Keszthely, Hungary, and she also claimed the Boxer of the Championship award.

Taylor, the reigning Olympic champion and AIBA World number 1, overcame Estelle Mosselly from France in the lightweight decider on a unanimous decision.

The Bray woman dominated early on to take the opening two rounds against her elusive opponent and the third round was more evenly fought before Taylor won the fourth.

The victory extends Taylor's incredible record in major Championships - her medal haul since 2005 now stands at 15 golds at Olympic, World Championship, European Championship and EU Championship level.

Taylor's success at senior level has had a knock on effect in the underage ranks, as Ireland will be taking home a total of five gold, three silver and seven bronze medals from Hungary.

Three of the golds were produced at junior level - Jacqui Lynch from the Golden Gloves club beat Poland's Sarah Domagala on a unanimous decision to win her light-flyweight division.

Castlebar's Grainne Gavin and Amy Broadhurst from Dealgan, the current European junior champion, followed that up with victories in the bantamweight and featherweight junior finals.

The impressive Broadhurst made it three in-a-row at 57kg versus France's Elisa Bouchlaka, the Dundalk southpaw getting the nod from all three judges across the board.

Ciara Sheedy, battling all the way to the final bell, had to settle for silver against France's Belinda Belmuka in the 63kg final. Sheedy won the first round of this encounter, but Belmuka turned it around in the final two rounds to seal victory.

Belfast light-flyweight Kristina O'Hara secured Ireland's only gold at youth level, beating Turkey's Ayse Cagirir on a split decision.

Meanwhile, there was a silver lining for Monaghan heavyweight Lianne Murphy, the only Irish female boxer to reach a senior EU final besides Taylor.

She turned in a gutsy display over four rounds and can be very proud of her silver medal finish, with the judges giving a unanimous decision to Turkey's Emine Bozduman in the 81+kg decider.

Bray Boxing Club is being refurbished at the moment. Amazing to think it had no toilets or showers and she trained for the Olympics there.

It now also has a 50/50 split between woman and men, one of the highest rations on woman boxers in any club anywhere.
