Fair play to you James - you're one of the few on here who can relate the incidents and the aftermath to what happened in Athens last year. I wonder would people's opinion be different if Rangers weren't involved? Joe
this goes on in every town every weekend maybe to a lesser extent but you put 100000 people together and the scum always raise to the top and ruin it for everyone else as you say everyone is tarred with one brush
i compare it to athens with regard to the amount of ticketless fans who were in the city. There are too many neutrel tickets for these finals. More should go to the fans. Surely a fan of a participating team should have more entitlment to get a final ticket. There were loads of loyal reds who never got tickets last year while thousands went to 'uefas family'. I think there were several threads of similar thoughts posted last year (on the older website). Thats why i questioned why so many liverpool fans on here chose to go....bit hypocritical i thought, .......why not sell them to rangers, pocket the cash and let a deserving fan go....it may reward you in future..karma and all that... if you are a fan of football there are hundreds of games being played every weekend to entertain you. although, i did go to a div 1 match last night, and the entertainment was pretty zilch ...suppose not much different than the uefa final!!
Just a ceist mods. Should words like h*ns not be treated the same way as sh*t, f*ck etc are on here. Posts deleted and warnings dished out? It is offensive to some people.
Apoligise for any insults taken here. Post ammended, as i would prefer people to comment on the subject of my piece.. btw: may have a soft spot for celtic but was implying that more tickets be recieved by rangers jc23, so i dont get your point.
Fans jailed for Uefa Manchester big screen riot Eleven football hooligans who took part in the worst destruction Manchester has suffered "since the Blitz" will be going to jail, a judge has said. Hundreds of Rangers fans caused "mayhem" at the Uefa cup final held in the city two years ago. Two police officers were caught by the crowd, surrounded and battered. Judge Andrew Blake indicated 11 of 12 fans would be jailed. A fire alarm then caused Manchester Crown Court to be evacuated. The judge had sentenced eight of the defendants before the court had to be evacuated. Violence broke out during the game in May 2008, in which Zenit St Petersburg beat Rangers 2-0, when a technical fault with a big screen left fans frustrated. Judge Blake said: "The riot police were deployed in full riot gear and struggled to contain the trouble and restore order. 'Thought would die' "What followed was the worst night of violence and destruction suffered by Manchester city centre since the Blitz. "What came afterwards, the damage, the filth and litter was apparent to all who arrived in Manchester the following day. "Many more than these 12 were involved. It had nothing to do with football rivalries but everything to do with drink." He jailed Scott McSeveney, 22, of Shotts in Lanarkshire, Scotland, for three-and-a-half years for violent disorder and the assault on one of the officers, Pc John Goodwin. Pc Goodwin was separated from his detachment, outnumbered by dozens of fans and attacked. He was stamped on and kicked and said later he thought he was going to die at the hands of the mob. BBC
