Any advice on a Mira electric shower would be great folks. Its making a much higher pitch sound when running although the flow seems to be ok. I replaced the shower head & tested the flow without the flex. Its not great but its the sound of it that has me thinking it might need to be replaced? I've been told it could because of the hard water in the area causing the damage & it might be the element if thats the case.

I know they are pricey so if it is a case of getting a new one i think i'll have a go fitting it myself. Any info would be appreciated.

Mate ive the same problem down here..I live in wexford and we dont have water softner in the house so lime gets into everything..

This regularly happens with our power shower...What we usually do it take it apart, and when you do you will release the amount of lime in your system..Just give it a quick clean, and then put it back together and your back in business..The limes cogs up the system and the water cant get through the system..Pain in the hole..

Any advice on me car would be good.

There is 3 things wrong with the car, its a 00 Mazda 323f.

    1) The wing mirror- The wing mirror (passenger side) just faces the ground. Obviously i know you can move the mirror to different angles however its not the mirror itself, its the whole panel that is just aiming to the ground.

    2) The passenger side seat- The clip on the side of the seat that allows the seat to fold is caught halfway up hence the chair leans forward at any given time I can't for the life of me get it to slot back into place.

    3) Wheels- When I bought the car their was alloy wheels on it, not great ones at that. The nuts keeping the wheels on are a staggering size 21mm. I have the socket for the 21 but it is a nightmare to get the wheel on and off, I'm now swapping the wheel with the missus' Da. So can anyone tell me were I could get size 17mm or 19mm nuts at a decent price. Best I could do was 104€ fitted.

Any advice on how to manually fix these problems or anywhere I could go to have them rectified at a reasonable rate would be much appreciated.

    Thanks :)

The varnish on the front door was looking rough so I decided to gloss it, sanded it down, threw a white undercoat on it and then two coats of gloss. The door looked super, seemed to dry fine aswell until I woke up yesterday morning.

The sun hits the front of the house from the morning for a few hours, it was roasting yesterday and it now looks like the gloss melted on the door!!

Should I just buy a new door or is it much work to strip it?

Any advice appreciated, where did I go wrong?

May be a stupid question but did you let the coats of paint dry completely before applying the next coat?

Yeah I think so anyway, I threw up the first coat and then left it a day before going over it again lightly. I'd say the sun got at the second coat before it dried, it looks like someone took a red hot hair dryer to it:eek:

Anybody experienced with decking here? I want to put decking at the back of my house. The decking will be raised about 2ft. Everyone has told me to dig holes and place posts in and then pour cencrete in to secure posts but the decking willl be above a patio that I dont want to dig up. Any suggestions of how to raise the deck securely over the patio?

Have a very small amount of experience but not sure what you are trying to do. Do you have a patio already and want to change it for decking without smashing the patioo up ?

Better off just putting in bases setting the post on top and screwing base to this if patio is properly laid there so be no issue in placing support posts on cent of patio slabs therefore when your bored with the decking ypu can just rip it out.

I have a pipe at the back of the house which looks like its coming from the attic and its been leaking a couple of times a day for the last couple of months.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and if its a problem I can solve or would I have to call a plumber?

    Thanks.

    Anyone here install windows?

I have a horrible draft coming through a bedroom window (ground floor apartment). Structurally its looks sound, no clear gaps between the window and the wall. Draft comes from the back of the window when its shut. Anyone any suggestions?

Is there any gap between the window and the window board?

I had this problem with draughts and I just ran a bead of clear silicone along where the window meets the window board, and underneath the window board where the window board meets the wall.

The difference it made was unreal. So I did it to every window in the house.

Its not near the window board. Its up the left hand side if your looking straight at it. If I filled the gap where the draft is I wouldnt be able to open the window.
