Public apology here - sorry for some of my posts lately  I've been taking some stuff far too personally. Everyones entitled to an opinion. Will probably give a couple of threads a break for a while.

Again, sorry to anyone I may have offended. YNWA.

I guarantee that any post on this site that details with good factual examples of why a poster wants rafa gone and who will replace him without being insulting to the manager would be met with fair debate.

But one line no brain statements that refer to the manager as fat or any other Shiite shouldn't be welcome and j think if anyone really wants to put their point across intelligentlyvtheyxwont be criticised for it

No bother, this thread has become a bit tiresome to be honest.

Personally I wouldn't like to see the site go down that route, stuff like that just asks for arguments

Big time, it happened a long time ago

Exactly.Personally I am still very pro Rafa but I can see he has his faults as does every other manager.Everybody is entitled to their opinion and there is no problem debating certain tactical decisions and certain transfers where he had undoubtedly made mistakes etc. but the key thing is that the criticism is constructive and not simply "He's a fat Spanish waiter,he's lost the fcuking plot,Istanbul was all Ged's team anyway,he's shite etc." Saying we play too defensive at times etc is a fair criticism but it's all those brainless, snide, totally disrespectful one-liners that do my head in and get tempers flared on both sides.

I also don't buy into the argument where the anti-Rafa fans say "we are told we're not real fans for wanting rid of Benitez".Who has ever said to you "You have no faith in Rafa therefore you are not a true Liverpool fan."? I know and know of plenty of good reds who wan't him out.The two subjects are largely unrelated.

I am leaving myself open to criticism with this post. But I am trying to be realistic about the short term future of the club under the present ownership.

I would bite the hand off anyone that offered a guarantee of a finish in the Premiership of 4th next season. I do though believe that under our present manager that we have a better chance of achieving this than if a new manager was brought in. After the bad season that Rafa had in Spain in 2002-03 he really turned it around the next season and Valencia became Spanish Champions for the 2nd time under Benitez. He is also the last manager in Spain to win a title with a club other than Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Finishing 4th maybe for some is a terrible result and well below the expectations that we would all like to have. But this is the terrible reality that a great club finds itself in when it is broke.

It is important to remember that English Premiership has the fewest changes from season to season regarding the top 4 teams.

    For the record in the last 10 years;

England had just 8 different teams in the top 10
    Germany 9 teams
    Italy 10 teams
    France 12 teams
    Spain 12 teams

I have made my feelings known that i think its time for a new manager and have never insulted Rafa, just questioned his decision making amongst other things. But if he is still the manager when the new season starts then i am going to back him 100% (call me a hypocrite if you want) because the people on here who post about getting new owners first and worry about a different manager later are dead right and the future of the club is not about who is in the dugout but who is in the boardroom and that is what is important.

I too would like to apologise for playing my part in recent hotly debated discussions. Normally keep a level head but for now i'll put it down to the current depressing news, facts, figures & rumours with all things related to our club.

If anything its a reminder we're all reds & i hope to continue any discussions in a fair manner without having the mods baby sit.

Whether Rafa will be here or not, one thing is for sure, we'll all be feeling differrantly about it but for the same reason as we all share the same passion for this great great club.

Please God let me resist the temptation to read this thread ever again. It's a little bit like that scene from Father Ted where Dougal is told not to press the red button on the plane. I know I shouldn't open this thread but I just can't resist. I will try to be stronger in future for the sake of my sanity.

Rafael Benitez claims he will see out the remaining four years of his Liverpool contract despite being expected to leave Anfield this summer.

Benitez has been linked with jobs at Juventus, Inter Milan and Real Madrid as failure to secure Champions League football looked set to end his six-year reign. However, Benitez has revealed that he sees his future at Liverpool.

"My future is with Liverpool," he said. "I have four more years of contract and I want to succeed. I have no offer [from another club]. I hope to make a competitive team."

Speaking about the ongoing uncertainty at boardroom level following Tom Hicks and George Gillett's decision to put the club up for sale last month, Benitez was confident about the future, although claimed that money would make a difference.

"I have had a couple of meetings with the new chairman [Martin Broughton] to clarify the situation,'' he added. ''We need to know how much money we have and that also depends on [player] sales."

Rafa Benitez insists Jose Mourinho is not the right man for the Real Madrid job.

Mourinho is widely expected to take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the Santiago Bernabeu after leading Inter Milan out against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final.

However, Benitez - who has been previously linked with the Real post - has entered a new war of words with his old foe by revealing his doubts about the impending appointment.

"Pellegrini has done a great job and he deserves to be given the great respect, because he is still the coach of Real Madrid," said the Liverpool boss, who shared many feuds with Mourinho when the Portuguese tactician was at the Chelsea helm.

"He has demonstrated exemplary behaviour, because it is not easy to work when the background is constant talk about who is going to replace you.

"I know Mourinho has spoken a great deal about how much he wants to come to coach Real Madrid. But if you ask me, I do not know if Mourinho is the right person to train Madrid."

No doubt he's referring to his own situation aswell as Pellegrini's in that part I've highlighted.

    Two comments to make.
Firstly, Rafa should stay out of the Madrid/Mourinho story and just give his usual response, what happens at other clubs does not concer me…etc
Secondly, This whole average points total is a bit irrelevant in my opinion and just papers over cracks and failings on the clubs behalf over the years. It just seems a little bit cringeworthy I guess.

You've no idea what context he was asked the questions about Madrid in. I'm sure he didn't just blurt it out. You can be sure sky sports didn't print the full interview anyway, just the parts that make it look like he is having a go.

Don't forget it's an LFC story afterall so it's 99% twisted to suit an agenda!

For me, Rafa 'quotes' are appearing in the media too much. Its the close season and the club is all over the shop. There is not a day goes by without some quotes from Rafa or his agent on players leaving/not leaving, his own position, wanting to be manager of Spain or and now Real Madrid. If he said nothing, there would be nothing to report, however he seems to be adding fuel to fire.

I know the media will not give the full context of what he is saying, however him and his agent should not comment on anything until preseason starts. Perhaps he has to give interviews to the club site every few days to keep interest in the site and this where all the quotes ar coming from?

And if he wasn't people would want to know why he is saying nothing! He was on a morning show in Madrid when asked about the situation at the club in the city he was born in and was with at some stage me thinks.

I've no idea to be honest mate but I've learned to take every interview with a pinch of salt unless I actually watch it on tele.

The media have a job to sell papers and register hits on their sites so juicy headlines are the only way to achieve that.

How often have you seen interviews been done in a foregin language and then translated to english with a completely different translation to what was actually said. You've also seen interviews conducted a few weeks/months earlier been re-hashed and re-produced like they were conducted recently.

As I said though I take most of what's written with a pinch of salt unless I see it spoken myself.
