Hi, The object is to identify two players (ideally one CB and CM) who we could realistically buy for a total of say £120m - £130m this window, and who would make our squad and preferably our first eleven stronger. Ideally, you need to identify a CB and a CM, however there's a bit of flexibility here if you wish to go for an alternative position instead of a CM (but you must get a defender, given LFC's defensive needs). So, anyone for Fantasy LFC Transfer Window ?
Here's my initial thoughts.... First stop is London - to pick up a CB called Toby Alderweireld. I'd expect he could be had for about £50m and at 28 years of age, with plenty of PL experience and a good defensive track record, he'd be a definite contender for a first eleven spot. While I'm in London, I might enquire about Danny Rose but he's not my top priority right now, so I'll keep him in on my reserve list..... Next, I jump a flight to Madrid where I go waving some of our cash at Real for Isco. He's had plenty of medals in Spain and apparently only has one year left on his current contract, so might fancy a bit of time playing PL football next. At 25 years of age, he's should still have plenty of power left in the engine, so if we need to hand over the full £70m then I'm happy enough with that. If I can't get Isco then I'm heading off to Paris to try and get Veratti and / or Marquinhos (if I didn't get Alderweireld) . Both players would get into my first eleven back at Anfield and while neither would come cheap, both my be tempted by the lure of the PL having picked up plenty of medals elsewhere. Both are reasonably young, so I'm happy to spend the £70m on Veratti and probably close to it for Marquinhos. If I'm there and have a bit of cash left over, having not got all of my first picks, I might ask about Draxler but he's not a top priority, so again he's on my reserve list. Needles to say, if I happen to sell anyone from the current squad or find a few quid hidden under the owners floorboards, then I'll find somewhere to spend that too.
If Isco's rumoured €700 million buy out clause is to be believed it's going to be very difficult to prise him away with a measly £130 million fantasy or not! I would throw the lot on Suarez or Sanchez and let the defence take care of itself.
Notwithstanding the fact that you decided to ignore the rule on bringing in a CB as part of your purchases, I like you thinking on Suarez or Sanchez I've no idea about whether the €700m buy out clause is true or not, but with only a year left on his contact, I'd think the trick would be to see if he fancied a spin in the PL - if he did then he won't sign a new contract, so would Real take €70m now or leave him for 12 months and let him off on a free ?
Think he signed a new contract https://www.si.com/soccer/2017/08/1...-real-madrid-contract-enormous-release-clause
Casemiro has everything we lack. Diego Godin short term but everyone at the back would fully understand their role and whats expected of them.
Asensio's release clause is €78million just sayin' I'd take Tah for €25-30million then. I'd look at Seri, Draxler, Lucas Moura, Krychowiak & Kondogbia with the remainder of the cash(in that order). Back in for VVD and Keita next year, have them signed and ready to go for day 1 of pre-season, I'd also sign Jonas Hector. PL winners and CL finalist/winners in 2018/19 season.
Fair nuff, thanks, didn't see any mention of that before now (which is a little odd, given it's quite recent and was due to be announced last week if I have my dates right from that article). Interesting tactic by Real regarding the buy out clauses in all of their players contacts, might be a better way to go than having nothing and then being open to debate each time someone comes sniffing around one of your players.
Seems a lot more straight forward than the way the club have been approaching trying to win the PL & CL
For me, and my posts on other threads reflect this, I'd have Inigo Martinez and Jonas Hector at the back. Koulibaly from Napoli might be an option also. In midfield, the usuals - any couple from Draxler, Kovacic, Asensio, Seri, etc. Up front, Insigne, Immobile or Timo Werner. However, the thread does say fantasy so I'd like the following please: Grobbelaar Neal Hansen Lawrenson Beglin Whelan Gerrard Barnes Dalglish Rush Suarez
It also says "who we could realistically buy for a total of say £120m - £130m this window" but I suppose technically we'd be able to bring most of that lot this summer, so we can't do you for breaking the rules there either now can we ? Jokes aside, the obvious point is to highlight and possibly discuss the range of talented players we could and should be trying to bring in this window.
