Jesus that seems like crazy money for Maguire, I don't watch much of Leicester but I've never really thought too much of the chap but maybe there's something there that I'm not seeing. I know he scored against us last season which might make him more valuable to them but other than being English I can't see any justification for that kind of a price tag.
Maguire is a better player than he looks, I thought Leicester paid mad money for him but looks a bargain now. Hope he goes to City as don’t think he would suit their style of play. Think his style would be well suited to United and he would probably end up their captain.
Maguire is a decent defender and imo would improve utds back line. How much would big Virgils price tag be now if maguire is valued around 80m to 90m
100% agree he will improve United's backline but would not have anywhere near the effect big Virg has had. If he goes for 90m surely Virgil is worth 150m now?
Well for me, he plays best when he has a lot of defending to do and sure will have more to do at United
I hope Utd don't get Maguire, last thing we want is them getting stronger (as it brings them back into contention for a CL spot in the PL next season etc) and he'd definitely be a good addition for them. Apparently they've had £70m offer turned down, but he can't be worth more than that, can he ? Perhaps it's just his current club recognising how stuck Utd are, so are really milking every last penny out of them in the knowledge that they'll probably pay rather than risk walking away, when they are struggling to attract top talent etc.
I've been a big fan of Maguire since his Hull days, very comfortable on the ball for such a big lad. Imagine if someone had said to you when Hull were conceding about 100 goals that season that in a few years one of their regular back 4 would be attracting 70m pound bids and another would be being talked about as the best left back in Europe
Perez from newcastle to Leicester for 30m is great signing for leicester Maguire wants city move over utd move
It's just a continuation of what's been happening, the smaller clubs will no longer have to be bullied into letting a player go, they don't rely on transfer fees to be profitable and can dig their heels in and demand what they feel is right. They've obviously looked at what VVD went for, factored in inflation and the fact that he's English and come up with £90 million. It's up to the Mancs now to pony up the fee or move on.
Sky breaking news this morning reporting that City have matched Utds bid of 70m for Maguire. In the same piece it says Leicester are looking for closer to 90m and it will definitely take more than what we paid for Virgil to get Maguire, so anorher pointless piece.
Knowing they have two clubs with plenty of money they can easily ask for £90m plus one been desperate to sign him
