http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...erpool-set-date-for-aquilani-bow-1792757.html Liverpool set date for Aquilani bow Liverpool's Alberto Aquilani is expected to be ready to launch his Premier League career at Sunderland on 17 October. The Italian's start date is in line with the expectations of manager Rafael Benitez, who warned the Italian might need two months to recover from ankle surgery. The player is desperately needed to add guile to the Liverpool team, after a start to the season in which midfielder Javier Mascherano, by his manager's own admission, has been below his best, though it is likely to be Lucas Leiva who will make way. Benitez will also be anxious to put his £20m investment to the test in the week during which documents prepared by merchant bankers to encourage investment in the club suggested that his budget will be locked at £20m for five years – or as long as George Gillett and Tom Hicks are proprietors. Sources close to Aquilani suggest the midfielder, who made only 14 appearances for Roma last season because of the injury, has found the break a useful part of the settling in process. Aquilani's team-mate Dirk Kuyt believes Glen Johnson, signed from Portsmouth in the summer, has provided Liverpool with a different emphasis this season. "Glen has done really well," said Kuyt. "He was a big signing for us but he has shown straight from the start that he is very important – both defensively and in attack. He has scored some very good goals and provided some assists. He is probably one of the best players in the team so far this season. He is still young and I think he will only get better and better."
No 4. The info on him possibly playing v Sunderland is already in his own thread http://www.irishkop.com/forums/showthread.php?p=233897#post233897
Can't wait to see him play but we need to ease up our expectations of him until he is fully match fit and has time to adjust to prem
Hopefully he makes that match as there are a good few from here going to that game and it will be nice to see him up close.
October 17th is nearly a month away. I was hoping more the start of October. Ah well if thats the date then thats the date. Let him settle in is probably part of the plan. Hopefully he'll be firing on all cylinders from the get go
To be honest to not sure how reliable that article is . so will take it with a pinch of salt ... Honestly thought we wouldn't see him playing until mid November .. dont think he is even in full training with the squad yet . Our attacking side is doing fantastic , It's our defence im worried about , so more anxious to see a fully fit Agger back and in the first 11 and to ease Aquilani in the side very gradually.
Can somebody post the following article blocked in work { shopping } Alberto Aquilani Injury Latest http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N165888090925-1307.htm
Rafa Benitez is refusing to put a timetable on summer signing Alberto Aquilani being available for selection - though the Italy international is said to be 'doing well' in his rehabilitation from an ankle injury. Newspaper reports this morning suggested the 25-year-old could make his debut in mid-October. But Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He's going forward, progressing and he'll soon start running. If that goes okay then everything will go a bit faster. "We have not set a target or any time, but he's doing well." Meanwhile, Benitez confirmed both Daniel Agger and Nabil El Zhar were close to first-team returns following respective back and knee problems. "Both are very close," said the boss. "They're involved in full training sessions but still they'll need match fitness. "They'll need time to play some games. Now we have some very important games, so we'll see - but both are very close." Stay tuned for more from Rafael Benitez later this afternoon on Liverpoolfc.tv.
