Shocked and saddened to hear this. So many great memories of watching his Liverpool teams. Rip. YNWA.
RIP Gérard. Always loved listening to him talking about football after he left Liverpool. Such great football intelligence and had a proper appreciation for the club and the fans. The team in 01/02 was even better than the treble version and in another year would have won the league.
Terribly sad news, so many great memories growing up. Brought me the 1st trophies I can remember seen the reds win. RIP

Terrible news. I absolutely loved the 2000/01 season. Just turned 18 so was in the boozer for every match having the time of our lives watching the reds return to the top table. RIP Gerard
Shocking news, definitely deserves to be up there with the best Liverpool managers, a pure gentleman with the correct ruthless streak needed for the club at that time. He started the rebuilding of the club back to the greatness it deserved, while bringing through some great players too. They say once you go to Liverpool it leaves mark on you that you will never forget, well Gerard left a mark on Liverpool we will never forget, RIP Gerard Houllier and merci.
.im not the only one, but I have never & will never forget the joy & eleation you were responsible for creating with that triple winning season...R.I.P. Gerard
He was the manager when I started following the club around 1999 and I'll always think of him nearly as the first Liverpool manager on account of that. Where older fans grew up under the spectre of Shanks and Paisley, Gerard and Benitez filled those roles for me and both wove their own stories which will live forever even in a club with as rich and wonderful a history as Liverpools. He sacrificed his own health and well being for Liverpool football club and always seemed like a complete gentleman. RIP Gerard Houllier. pps someone might correct the spelling of his name in the thread title.
I’ll never forget 2001. That season , lifting 3 trophies and finishing 3rd. Incredible. Thanks for everything boss. RIP.
RIP Gerard...loving reading all the stories from former players, coaches, journalists about him. YNWA!
