Hoping for another memorable European night at Anfield.

A 2 goal win is achievable. First goal scored tonight will be huge.

I think Rio has to start.

    Mamardashvili
    Szoboszlai Konate VVD Kerkez
    MacAllister Gravenberch
    Wirtz
    Salah Ekitike Rio

I think the record with a midfielder at right back this year has been a disaster, so I’d be surprised if that is the way he goes.

Need to come out the blocks flying in first 20 minutes. Enrique is an excellent manager so he will be planning for that.

I want to see a massive performance from Wirtz. He had a decent spell a while back however he has yet to really do it in a big game and this is his chance,

Only real debate seems to be whether Rio will start. I would, we need goals from the start and he adds something completely different. Let's go big.

I decided Rio ahead of Frimpong. Can't leave anyone else out - although I did debate Robertson ahead of Kerkez!

3 - 1 Salah hat-trick (unfortunately he misses his penalty in the shootout but Szob puts us through with the deciding pen off the underside of the crossbar).

The game won't be won or lost in the first 20 minutes (hopefully) but we'll know from the tone of that opening period whether we're out to really have a go at this or whether we're going to get turned over again. PSG are better than us at the controlled possession game, if we let this drift into a slow paced game PSG win every time, we need to go for the blood and thunder approach and just hope we have the fitness to see it through for the duration. For me it's a simple as this, if we let them fall into their usual patterns they win this game comfortably, I'm not saying they wont' win it either way but we've a chance if we really go after them.

I'm far less concerned about the players selected than the overall approach we have to the game, all of our players are individually quite capable and I think Rio is probably the one that PSG will have the fewest problems with, he's very inexperienced at this level.

I'd start Rio as you mentioned he gives something different. There full backs like to bomb forward so could present opportunities for him. If Slot doesn't start him the reaction will be he should have started him.

I think back to that Olmypiacos game. If memory serves me correctly did Sinima Pongole & Anthony Le Tellac start that game. I also think Pongole scored. So I would take a chance on Rio.

Sinima Pongolle and Mellor both came off the bench amd scored. I'd start Rio just for his unpredictability alone. We need to give their defenders something to worry about and Salah and Gakpo won't be offering them anything they didn't know already. We have to take chances unfortunately

    Good man Dejan

10 years ago today, I lived every boy’s dream in a Red shirt.
Scoring against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League at Anfield — the lights, the noise, the Kop roaring as we fought back in one of the greatest European nights this club has ever seen.
That goal, that moment, that Liverpool shirt… it’s etched in my soul forever.
Still gives me goosebumps. Thank you to every teammate, every fan, and everyone who made that night magic.
This one’s for the memories that never fade. ❤️ You’ll Never Walk Alone

    Good luck tonight LFC. BELIEVE!

As said before. The first goal is everything here.
We get it, it’s game on.. they score , it’s done.
Would like to see Rio start and go at them. Give them a different problem.
    No regrets and all that.
    Praying for a special evening

We need a lot of things to go right for us tonight. And even a lot of luck, the perfect performance might not be enough. Th3 crowd need to be on it too

The first goal is crucial, regardless of whether that's in the first 20 mins or not.

The way their wingers played almost negated our wing backs in the back 5 as they just stayed forward and wide meaning we needed to have or wing backs more defending than attacking allowing their backs to come forward. We gave their midfield too much space and time with the CB's having to come and meet them in midfield and they knew where they wanted to ping the ball to for outlets. A Klopp style Gengenpressing would be great but I don't think this team has it in them. When Slot was calling for them to press last week he was being ignored either as they didn't fucking want to or couldn't. In some ways it shouldn't matter who starts as long as they give everything when they are on the pitch and follow Arne's instructions, then it is on him to figure it out.
I fully believed we would turn over Barcelona in 2019 as I couldn't believe we were 3 nil down as we had played well enough to have come away with something in that game. It isn't often with Liverpool but as much as it pains to say it I have no optimism we can turn this one around as I don't see the character yet in this team to do it. I really hope they prove me wrong.

Liverpool: Mamardashvili, Van Dijk, Konate, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Isak, Mac Allister, Ekitike, Frimpong, Gravenberch.

Subs: Woodman, Misciur, Gomez, Salah, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Robertson, Nyoni, Nallo, Ngumoha.

Isak starting with Salah on the bench is a big call.

That's a seioursly bold starting 11. So attacking cant really ask for any more from the manager !!

No matter what happens,I won't be criticising that team selection. Even starting Isak makes sense as the possibility(as slim as it is) of extra time, making starting him the most logical way of getting the maximum amount of impact out of him without risking it costing us two substitutions.
