Psg have lost 8 games and they're still in with a shout of winning the league, bonkers. Atalanta play ac Milan on the last day of the season, could give juve a chance of sneaking in to the top 4.
I had a good feeling at the time it happened that Keogh would eventually get his payday from Derby and it looks like it's finally here. Delighted for him, felt he was treated awfully by the club at the time.
Solksjaer is looking after his own clubs interests,as he should. We can't complain about his team selection because us not having enough points is our problem, not his. One aspect where we can feel aggrieved is he had to make that many changes because they're playing us Thursday. They're only playing us Thursday because their supporters got the original fixture postponed. So in reality that protest will probably hurt us more than it hurt them.
We can't complain and it is our problem but if you are saying we aren't in Solksjaer's thinking when making the decisions (I don't know if you are) then on that point I would disagree. Taking all teams and allegiances out of it, I still say no matter what that when you have a mathematical chance of winning, you don't as good as throw a game. You make the other team win it. No one will convince me that he wasn't more concerned at losing the title to us on Thursday than trying all out to win both games. I would love it if Citeh trolled them by losing all their remaining games to leave them thinking . Meanwhile, 1995, last day of the season v Blackburn. We don't give a fcuk, we win our game. United still fcuked it up. I said this to a manc supporting mate of mine last night and he had nothing, because it is true.
Each to their own, but this "threw the game" theory is hyperbole imo. And a manager risking what's very likely (europa league win) to chase something that's 99% definitely not going to happen is just poor management imo. He might have lost Maguire already and 3 games in 5 days is a huge injury risk for players. If we consider his best line up is his 10/10 team, he could have put out 3 6/10 teams for all the games and seen how many points they took, but if I was their manager I'd of done exactly what he did. 10/10 teams in 2 of the 3 is their best bet because they don't have a great squad. Full strength Villa to put the top 4 issue to bed and obviously the Leicester game is the one to rest everybody in because that's the best way of mitigating the risk of injury and giving them the best chance to beat us on Thursday. Solksjaer isn't throwing a result to keep us out of the CL or avoid the league being decided on Thursday. Taking the title "race" into another week is worth far more to him than avoiding it ending on Thursday,it was over anyway. He did his job as far as I'm concerned.
Absolutely, I wouldn't be going that far but equally it suited him that it was us. Would he get the same reaction from the fans if he did what he did last night but they were playing , just for example say, Crystal Palace on Thursday? No way. The medicine he is dishing out is softened by the added benefit of costing us, so the supporters will swallow it better.
What odds were we to beat Barcelona without Salah and Firmino and 3 goals down? We had a potential league decider 3 days later that we could have chosen to rest players for but went after the 5% shot. Fair enough Utd were chasing a 1% shot but its still something. They could have easily played a first choice fullback in each game, played one of the young forwards in each game and done he same with Pogba and Fernandes, an hour in one game with 30 minutes as subs. They sacrificed any shot at 9 points to go after 6 and could easily end up with 3. I'm with Liverpool-law on this, this was for the gallery, give something back to the bantz lads, we gave Leicester 3 points and took 3 from Liverpool. They have morphed into Everton.
I was about to address this point by point and then thought, "why am I putting this much effort into defending Solksjaer?" I just don't care enough.
If it was us they were playing last night and Leicester Thursday, would he have out out the same team last night?
Mick I know you could put forward a very strong argument and technically you would probably be correct. But that would ignore the fact he's a small minded spiteful little prick.
Like fcuk would he He is a silly little cunt and the fact that Utd fans are celebrating the fact that we don’t go to old Trafford as champions shows how far the mighty have fallen
Think utd just want to try and keep us out of champions league next season, so to remove one serious obstacle to their chances in that competition. Weaker team v Leicester, so if Leicester win, reduces our chance of 4th. And stronger team v us, beat us and reduce our chance of 4th. Would we do the same if the situation was reversed? I hope so.
Rangers one game away from undefeated season. 1 point away from 100 points. They also notched their 25th shut-out of an astonishing league season, setting a new benchmark as they beat the Scottish clean-sheet record for a 38-game schedule set by Celtic back in 2014/15. Stevie has done a brilliant job up there. Delighted for him.
Great achievement to go the whole season unbeaten if it happens however I think any titles/records during this season will always have an asterisk beside them give it was a condensed season in front of no fans
