I did my first ever 20 mile run out to Sutton and back, lovely flat run by the sea.

Done this on Saturday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Started off and done a 16km at the start and took a K off at the end.

The last 4 of run 3 and run 4 were the toughest.

Fairplay. How did you find in between runs. Kept on the move? I'd have struggled if I ended up on the couch

Done a light bit of a cool down and stretch after each run. We watched the match between 2 and 3 and then changed scenery which helped a little bit.

The beer at the end was one of the finest beers I think I have ever had to be honest.

Next challenge is 2 half marathons in the one day, after that its a 32km run in one blast and then hopefully a marathon.

So envious of fellow runners here.
    Can't seem to get motivated.
Was a regular 10 to 15k. Always took break then got back in. Have attempted it again a few times in lockdown.
Got back up to 7k. Was delighted with myself. Then let it last again.
Recent efforts not even up to 5k.
    It's a mental thing.
I know I have the legs and stamina to go on. Just lose interest.
Always had the motivation of paying €20 to run in a 10k or a 10 miler. But no runs happening now.

Do you try and listen to podcasts, music or audio books. Something to take the mind of whatever block you have

Was up in the park earlier and seen a group of club runners gathered together to do a session.
Great to see, they looked absolutely delighted, some of them probably haven't seen each other in months.

Delighted to back running after my plantar fasciitis rest.

Getting my 5kms done but a lot slower since before the injury.

Always feel good mentally after a run. Great to clear the head.

Attempted to run 2 half marathons yday.

Went out at around 8.30 for the first one and it was relatively ok. I felt good for the majority.

Went out for the second one at about 5pm and it was really hard. I was only 1.5 k and I was already flagging.

At around the 12k mark on run2 I had to walk it out for a few hundred yards and eventually I hit a wall at 18k.

39k in one day isn’t too bad but I think I am stil a way from doing a full marathon.

Bloody hell. Well done. I done 16k yesterday and thought i was great. I’d say I could just about manage a 1/2.
Haven’t done a marathon in 10 years. Applied to do Dublin in 2020 and got knocked back. Didn’t happen anyway but I’m done with them now i think.

Any reason why you did 2 half's in one day..? or did you just want to see if you could.

Just to see if I could to be honest with you and to see if my body could cope with it and it was a challenge I’d set myself.

I’m going to try it again next month I think but on the second half I’m going to maybe do 2
10/11k loops and have a little bag left somewhere with some water & bananas & lucozade or something.

I think you would be better off trying to increase the distance on one run to be honest. Most people who run marathons bar the elite will never go over 30/35km on one run, and even then it will harm your next weeks training.

Ye somone said similar to me. A guy in work who is a regular runner told me if you can run 32k you can run a marathon. He said the last 10k or so is in your head.

Most people in a marathon training plan with do a 30/35km anything from twice to maybe 5 timers. But the point here is they do not go over it because the thinking is this is the proper hurt zone and you will lose more time from recovering from that last few km than you gain. So the trick is to try and get the body used to running up to say 35km and then on the day with better rest gone into the real race you would be ready.

By doing two half's in the one day you aren't really achieving much, people who do that would be tanning for ultras etc. I would suggest you just do the one long run a week and try to add a bit on each time, and ever try to run the last few km a bit harder than the rest if you can.
