They're only closed because of them pricks in Galway. Miles and Miles of open space, once its within the 5K there is no reason to have them closed.
I stopped having an opinion on what should or shouldn't be closed a while back, with me getting my wages every week it didn't feel right to be telling people their jobs should be closed. And with the way discipline is fading with lockdowns, I don't think opening golf courses now would make any difference to numbers. But there was a time when I believe it made sense to have them closed, not necessarily because of science but in order to help maintain that discipline. If we lived in a world where everybody would go "yeah,it makes sense that golf courses are open because of the low level of transmission risk" then it would be a different story, but thats not how many people would react. People love an excuse, and giving them as few excuses as possible not to break lockdown restrictions makes sense to me.
Why the 15th for schools reopening? Theyll only be back for 2 days then its Paddys day. Why can't they wait till march 22nd?
For anyone who missed it here’s a quick summary of what the Taoiseach has said. stay in your gaff Get the vaccine into ye Session in the summer I’m sure he mentioned schools in there somewhere.
He said something of the lines of the new strain being a like a new virus. What a Muppet. Clearly aimed at absolving his government of any blame for the shitshow at Xmas. The vaccines are the same, give us a target for when everyone who needs the vaccine will be sorted and that means they can open up. They won’t do that though as they don’t believe in their rollout plan. Give people a reason to stay at home and stick to the rules, light at the end of the tunnel would help a lot of people. Instead kick the can down the road for another month.
I've always thought Gary was a bit of a prick, that he's on Niall Boylan tonight kind of reinforces that opinion.
I never knew that beauty salons/hairdressers would end up on the front line of this war! And also somewhat embarassingly I always thought Balbriggan was in Meath.
I'm not going to comment on the rights or wrongs of that woman being arrested, but when I seen Ben Gilroy standing beside her when she was reading out her statement the other day I just said to myself oh dear.
They came to the mosque, had a word and the crowd dispersed. They went to that shop yesterday and had a chat with the owner. Today she opened up again. I'm not judging that woman(although as Willie says, if you're taking advice from Ben Gilroy you need to rethink your choices) but the Gardai couldn't really have done much else here.
Genuinely couldn't care what the building is used as, it was a large gathering of people and a blind eye was turned. Seen a video the other day of a lad literally being dragged out of his car by gardai out at Dublin airport, why aren't they dragging people out of mass gatherings?
She was always going to get arrested although 20 guards is a bit much. Hopefully she just gets a warning rather than a fine. Taking money off people in the current climate is ridiculous even if they are stupid.
It makes no sense, a single occupant of a car is of no risk to anybody, a woman in a nail bar working on one customer at a time is obviously higher risk but a mass gathering is the highest risk, guess who was arrested and who had a talking to?
Cruise ships coming back in to Dublin in April, can't see that going down well if we're still under restrictions and the 5km rule.
