Quite simple really, all that needs to be said is....More of the same please!!!! If we go at United like tonight then we will play them off the pitch. Same XI, same everything!!

unfortuanately i'd say the chances of a similar performance against man u are somewhere between nil and none. last nights performance was outstanding - no question about that. but it was a statistical anomaly, and way too open for rafa's liking. if we played that open against utd they'd murder us. so i expect the team to revert to type and it'll be a tight cautious affair and it'll prob be a 1-0 win either way or a draw

I will probably sound a bot like Johnny Giles here but if its the right way to play last night why isn't it the right way to play on Sat !

Dont like the pessimism protrayed here already.
Less of the whining and more supporting guys, get behind Rafa and the team!!
Leave this sort of stuff to the red tops and the studio airhorns!

More of the same on Saturday is right. Why not? I dont agree that they will murder us if we play open football. We were simply breathtaking last night. Scum fans in work i was talking are nervous now......

If the players are nervous come saturday, bring the heat and lets bounce them off the park. A draw is nothing to us on sat - a win is vital

Its not pessimism, its reality, 1 result is not going to make our season. You can't bury your head in the sand and bring it out every time we win 4 - 0. U have to ask the question why we don't play like that system and tactics every week. U can still support the team while having an opinion and discussing about the way they play ;)

i agree completely with willk1977 - i think last night IS the right way to approach the game. but all u can do is go on previous history and look at rafa's philosophy and it predicates a tight game on saturday. i'm not saying we'll definitley lose, i just think it wont be as easy as last night to find the time and space to create all those chances - lets face it rio and vidic are miles better than pepe and cannavarro (as he is now) and up top i'd say ronaldo, berbatov, rooney et al will definitely pose more of a threat than an ageing raul and higuain. i hope we DO play like last night, i absolutely do...but if i'm realistic i cant see that happening.
and lets face it the anfield crowd were awesome again last night and rattled a spineless real madrid team - we're playing away at OT and utd aint spineless. my head says a tight cagey tactical affair and 1 goal being the difference...its too tight to call. i seriously doubt we'll beat utd 4-0 and play them off the park. i'd take a scrappy goal off ngog's arse in the 89th minute

please please please Rafa send the same 11 out with the same mentality in both intensity and creativity from the start. i think playing like we did in the first 30mins last night no team in the world could cope.

however i agree with other posters in that i would be very surprised if this were to happen. knowing rafa he will try to nullify the manure threat. that means probably dropping babel in place of dossena or similar to conteract ronaldo.

real madrid are livin on a name, not the team every1 makes them out to be,but last night was immense, right from the starting whistle we went straight at them, was expectin it to die down, which what usually happens, but love it,never gave them a chance.
as for saturday we have to do the same, only thing is we usually bottle it at old trafford, get a player sent off and get battered.man u are gonna be a different challenge to real as fergie knows how we play and how to disturb us,united are ruthless, have been all season.with it being an away game for us i see us sittin back for the counter attack which united will thrive on.
1 thing i want is us to have a go just like last night.be ruthless,if we get beaten we went out and tried unlike past games there.

If we can at least try to play like last night this will make fans a bit more understanding, not to play the same 11 is suicide and we should move on, going back and dropping players who played well & score dosent make sense.

I feel for Yossi but the team played well as a unit and shouldnt be tinkerd its not broken!

Bring on Man Ure - come on the Pool....

reckon there will be one change, riera in for babel. Harsh on ryan as he was very impressive last night and the last thing you want after struggling for form then playing well is to be dropped.

So would i because you can't lose by less than a goal, great to see the confidence in the team after last night. If you want to know why the team can't replicate performances like last nights in the league its exactly because of posts like above, there is no belief in the league that we will win. From the team through to the fans and its stifling us.

I was very impressed with torres's atitude last few games gettin kicked all over the place by center backs, just getting straight up and and getting on with it!put it up to pepe last night,no doubt vidic and ferdinand will be laying in to our no.9...best way to get them back is to score and get on with his own game!!
    COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS!!

The one game every year that I dread.Doing the double over the mancs might be a bit too much to ask for but then again we're definitely due a win at castle greyskull.

Will NEVER,ever get over that last gasp ferdinand header at the Stretford end and that ratface neville running the length of the pitch.Robbed we were that day, djib missed an open goal and all.Other than that, cant have too may complaints there in recent times,we've been destroyed by them.Lets put it right this time around.

Torres is due his first goal against the mancs! If we play anywhere like we did last night weve got a great chance.

I dont rate Babel with his ball control skills, nor his ability to out think players nor his ability to use his left foot! Yes, he has pace. Yes, he is strong, yes he is awkward. And he can hit a hard shot if not the most accurate one. He can shoot a bit with his left foot too, when it dawns on him. But, he doesnt for me have a football brain. He is more Cisse or Sissoko than Alonso.

With our squad he does however have a role I think as an impact sub because his pace when intoduced later in games can get past defenders. But his passing ability is not good, 9 times out of 10 and he can easily run into (be lead into) a blind alley, etc. In other words, if we had a better left-sided midfielder we would be a lot better as a team.

I agree that players can build off confidence when they get a run in the team. However, I dont think its lack of confidence that is affecting Babel. I just think its capability. He is limited.

The thing about Riera is that he is not much better than Babel overall. He is not as pacey, but he has better ball control skills. He is left-footed so is different, but similar to Babel he plays mainly with his dominant foot which makes it easier for defenders. His passing is better as is his crossing. Rafa prefers him probably for those reasons.

But neither are perfect and I think we still have a problem on the left side. Then we have to think just how many players has Rafa brought in and played on the left? Quite a few. He needs to get it right next time or we may never win the league under his stewardship.

ps: rant - I hate it (and I rarely hate anything) when Liverpool people label Man Utd just United. Can someone change the title of this thread to Mancs v Liverpool or Man Utd v Liverpool or something? I even hear Ronnie Whelan calling them United or Souness at times, and it reveres them far too much. You'll notice that Johnny Giles never calls them United, always Manchester United and he is right!
