A few guys in work here were trying at 9 with no joy. One of their mates got 2 via the fanclub option.

Would it not have made more sense to put AC/DC on at Slane, and Oasis on at the O2??

And I don't even have a degree in Promotions

Totally....probably the politics of promotions is the reason and economics, the dates are in April for their world tour in this neck of the wood, might cost waaaaay more to haul them back up at the end of august if they were down under or in america touring.

A mate was in 2 seconds past 9 and they were sold out ? Seems pre-sales whether fanclub or otherwise took care of a significant portion of the tickets.

I saw them the last time they played "The Point" and you could get (cheaper) tickets willy nilly. Like with most gigs with decent capacity you'll get tickets in the run up alright..........should be well used to it from the footie scene. The fact its Saturday night certainly adds to demand with the logistics of those travelling from outside the Pale being more practical. For some reason every gig I go to seems to be always midweek though that suits me fine.

Ah sure Clapton and Oasis next on the list for some. Certainly the former for me after being away for Malahide Castle (hate most outdoor venues anyway), will see about the latter (one of the few outdoor venues I like).

Logistics and making a quick buck i guess. People who want to see a band will travel in Ireland because we accept it, and keep doing it. I have took manys a day off work to travel up for concerts in Dublin, it makes it kinda better in a way too, well sometimes, you have the day after to savour it all!

I got two for the NEC anyways, happy days, its on a Thursday night
