Anybody using BT broadband lads? Have so far being unsuccessful getting in broadband where i am. Digiweb wireless couldn't get a clear sight to their transmitter so they were out, Chorus/NTL digital tv can't be got in my area so their boradband is out too. Got in an eircom phone line after above didn't work so just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the best DSL being offered at the moment. BT seem to be good value compared to eircom but i've heard mixed reviews about them. Hoping to do a decent amount of gaming so any help/advice much apreciated.

    Hi Niall

I have BT 1GB Broadband Line & Talk Time for about €45.00 per month and includes all local calls etc.

Cheaper than eircom, cut my bills by roughly about €60.00 every 2 months. Have had no probs with BT.
Braodband speed is quick enuff!! But you can get faster.

Did it take long for your modem/router to arrive Liverbird? Have heard a couple of people complain it took ages to arrive even though they were being billed all along. Value wise they defo look good, haven't got much need for a phone line but hands are tied so BT's bundle looks good. Wouldn't be an expert as regards speeds/contention ratio etc. but if they're reliable at a decent price i'd be happy.

I had my wireless delivered to the office within 5 working days, and just connected at home myself, that was last year don't know what wait time is at the moment tho! You do pay in advance but obviously if you cancel it runs until paid for date.

I'm with BT wasn't really waiting long for the wireless router

I was having a problem with the signal for a while and I was ringing up trying to find out eventually I realised that it was the cordless phone sitting beside it interfering with it just moved the phone working perfectly

The help line is great too you don't have to wait for ages on the phone you ring up if no one is available they take your number and hold your place in the line and ring you back so mucj=h better way of doing it

Thinking of getting NTL Broadband at home (only have internet access in work at moment...)

Fairly light user in terms of downloads, etc.

No active telephone line but I guess that shouldn't be an issue...

    Any good or bad reports?

Here's your chance for a sales pitch Jaza!!

Anyone know if it's easy to hack into eircom wireless, I have it encrypted with whatever wireless key it came with, but often the lights on the wireless router are flashing even when my laptop is off....

Just wondering if someone in a surrounding apartment is piggy-backing on mine!!

    3 packages

    value , express and ultra

Value is 3 meg download at 20 euro per month with a 20 GB usage cap per month . Grand for standerd browsers

Express is 10 meg with unlimited download and is 30 euro good for those who download alot

Ultra is 20 meg at 40 euro and you get a free wireless router with unlimited download. (make sure you request free router) great for gamers and people with multiple laptops in a house .

You can buy a router with the other packs for 50 euro but they will only give it on install and not after that .

    Cheers Jamie.

'Value' would probably do, I mainly use it for browsing, hardly download anything.

Do they just rig it up via TV outlet? I don't have an active Phone-line in the house.

Or the wireless router for 50 squids isnt a problem.

Also do you know if they can install on a Saturday? Never get a day off work before Xmas.

    Thanks in advance mate!

You'll get a fiver? They should give you more than that, Top Salesman! :)

I'll ring the missus in an hour or so (she sleeps like a hedgehog) and get my account number and send you a PM.

    Thanks again buddy!
