Shamrock Rovers Press Release Tallaght Gets Green Light Press Release Issued : 25 Jan 2008 The Tallaght Community Stadium finally got the go-ahead today when the High Court rejected Thomas Davis GAA club's application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court. On December 12 last the High Court ruled in favour of South Dublin County Council and against Thomas Davis GAA club in the Judical Review of the stadium. This morning Judge Murphy ruled that there were no legal grounds to justify an appeal to the Supreme Court and the two-year legal wrangle has come to an end. This means that work can resume on the site and Shamrock Rovers can look forward to moving into the stadium for the start of the 2009 FAI eircom League season. Says Shamrock Rovers Chairman Jonathan Roche: "We're delighted that the matter is finally resolved. It's a relief for us all that we can say Rovers are finally going to have a home. "I want to thank everyone who supported us along the way, from the South Dublin County Council to the various politicians and the FAI - and of course our great fans. "We'll be seeking a meeting with the SDCC as soon as possible to get the builders back at the stadium and look forward to seeing the hard hats and bulldozers on site." ENDS
Not a clue about Irish Football but does anybody go to Irish football league matches? I never hear anybody talking about it.
My office will be very close to this new stadium, so I figure I'll check out a match. Why not right? Often times small clubs in small stadiums can be a very fun experience. I saw an obscure club play when I was in Hungary a few months ago and we had a BLAST!
Shamrock Rovers are coming to Wexford on the 29th Feb. Pre-season Friendly should be good. Sorry should have been Shamrock
Where i am from there is a football team called the Shamrocks and a GAA club called the Shamrocks. The name is widespread around Ireland.
Yeah i heard about Shamrock Rovers where you are from ? Shamrock Rovers F.C. are an old Club not something new and with the new 10,000 seater stadium they will attract massive crowds to Tallaght like the old days in RDS & Milltown when they attracted 20,000 odd. There is an amazing atmosphere at the games especially with all the Ultras stuff they do e.g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ2VeBoaOig&eurl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSFnI3PcIvo&eur
Enniscorthy in Wexford. It's a junior league. Although i hate them i played for one of their town rivals.
Unfortunately people aren't willing to Invest money in the League but the Support in the Eircom league is larger than people think but until the Stadia are improved will always get small crowds, but the fans they have are Fanatical. Shamrock Rovers is owned by the Supporters for the last few years ! You should go games that are Rivals like Bohs V Rovers or Cork against Rover's, Bohs, Derry, there are great atmospheres http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vGxpE0y9v4
Sorry i never heard of the Shamrocks But i can't imagine any team in the Irish league would need to have a 10,000 seat stadium ?!
Bohemians are hoping to build a 10,000 stadium Drogheda Utd are building a 20,000 seater, Shamrock Rovers are building a 10,000 seater, Cork have a 9,000 seater with future plans. Not sure of the rest but i know they all have plans for modernising there grounds. Small league with a lot of passion Where do you think Kevin Doyle & Shane Long from Reading came from (Cork City).
There are a few teams in Dublin with a good fanbase, Cork City have quite a big following as well, GO ON CITY
I have of some Irish teams i heard of Cork City, Bohemians they played Sunderland last year Dundalk because we played there before also heard of Sligo Rovers because of fellow Red Paul Cook and Linfield, Glentoran but they play in the Northern Irish league sorry probably offending some on here by getting mixed up. Is theer any other Good names in the Irish league bar the Shamrocks ? Going to google them to see if they have a website
http://www.eircomloi.ie:82/ You can access all the Eircom League clubs websites by clicking on the crests. ** Kilkenny City are no longer in business, website is out of date in that regard.

That should really be srfultras.net btw. Today is an amazing day for Rovers and for the league, i hope this thread doesn't get hijacked like the last one. I can't stop smiling, Rovers now have a home and the future is very bright. KopSeasonTH, we are not a small club, and please stop calling us 'the shamrocks'. Stamullen, we are going to be in for the start of the '09 season anyway, talk of it being finished at the end of this season, but it will be a fresh start in '09.
Sweet god i will be going to almost every home game in Tallaght, it is the best news the Club have had for almost 20 years. LAST MAN STANDING ! ! !
