I always liked Stan, even when he annoyed the hell out of me with his interviews when Ireland manager (a job he was always going to take once offered it - FAI are to blame there not Stan). Good luck to him - he was a solid defender and a great servant to LFC in his day - not to mention he was always in the starting 11 when he played with some of the best players LFC have ever had on their books.

Is that not Steve Clarke's Main attribute?

Stan isnt suited for management in my opinion. His public speaking isnt the best either.BUT he did a fantastic job for us, and was a great and loyal servant to both Ireland and Liverpool. If he could pass on some of his defensive Knowledge to some of the younger things, it can only be invaluable.Working with Steve Clarke too, will help Stan improve.Nice to see another fellow Country Man getting a chance.

Maybe we're signing him to play left back.

In all honesty though, I hope he makes a good coach because he doesn't seem likely to cut it at management level.

considering the calibre of staff that Kenny is surrounding himself at this would be a bonkers appointment.

Yes he was a good servant to the club as a player but he has been an utter failure at everything else with regards to the game.

If he has his coaching badges now fine let him get experience in the lower divisions. If he wants a defensive coach that is an ex player bring Thompson back.

If Roy appointed him last season or even now with WBA we'd all either laugh or cry. Fine footballer but the man can't communicate. Disaster waiting to happen if true.

Whats the big uproar, the man has amssive experience in the game. I for one would have no problem with him helping some of our younger players out

Brian Kidd for example didn't set the world alight as a manager after years being a coach/assistant does that make him a failure in everything else he was involved in in the game? Whatever role Stan is given might be an idea to give him a chance.
