When local daylight time is about to reach Sunday, 31 October 2010, 02:00:00 clocks are turned backward 1 hour to Sunday, 31 October 2010, 01:00:00 local standard time instead
There would still be clock seasonal changes. I presume if the UK were to change Ireland would follow. Private Member's Bill, tabled by Conservative MP Rebecca Harris, will go before the House of Commons on 3 December.
Sounds similar to what happened in 1968 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Time_Act,_1968#Ireland, which was shortly thereafter scrapped.
So basically go to European time? Clocks going back should be scrapped, there are studies in America when they scrapped it and it saved energy and there were less accidents overall (the brighter evenings more than made up for the darker mornings).
