Haven't frequented this section of the site much and surprised there doesn't appear to have been any threads on the UFC - any fans out there at all? Have to say I had no interest and never tuned in as I thought it was a bit barbaric to be honest until I stumbled across a fight a couple of years back involving an old WWF fighter Ken Shamrock and wondered how he fared in real competition and have been hooked ever since (he got his ass handed to him on a plate by the way )
yeah big into this sport now like so many other.never miss my monday night fix at 11pm on bravo!! I'd say its only a matter of time before they tour over here, they have been to the uk a few times in the last few years and it is a big sport in europe now.
There were rumours of them coming to the Point back a few months back which never materialised and was away when they were in Belfast which was annoying but hopefully sooner than later we will get to see them live
Id just like to see them bring Chuck over. I know he's been crap the last 2 fights but the guy is a legend. Now that Chuck is out of sorts wouldnt surprise me if Tito Ortiz challenges him again. Its only starting to really take off now cause people for a long time because of the likes of Ken Shamrock thought it was like the WWE until you sat them down and watched it and then get the 'holy crap' reaction
chuck is fighting wanderlei silva is the next ufc as far as i know and that should be very interesting.dont be surprised if he cause an upset!!
Just had a quick look on their website - noticed the UK version even offers TV coverage, which is quite handy although I do wonder if it's been fully updated, seems a bit bare (assuming most of us have a Sky Dish) etc: http://uk.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=event.Calendar http://uk.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=event.ppvhome Then I found the most interesting part of the website http://uk.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=OctagonGirl.home
The 3rd one (Rachelle Leah) hosts a programme called UFC All Access where she spends a day with individual fighters seeing how they train, how they eat, how they relax etc ......... she is a stunner !!!
http://uk.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=Octagongirl.detail&pid=531 Based upon the above, I'd say there must be a few more pictures / video clips of her floating around the net, if your interested
What was that "Cage Rage" event that came to Ireland? Was that like some sort of amateur/watered down version?
they have a lot of cage rage events in the uk,some do be on sky sports on a saturday night.it seems to be a like a poor mans ufc.some of the fighters on it last week had fought in the ufc but had a poor fight history.just another mixed martial event like PRIDE but not as good
I really hate UFC.. steel cages, men beating their chests.. I used to really like k1 when it was on eurosport a few years ago, one of few combat sports I like to watch.
I've been looking into it recently...there is a local club in Tallaght and I was thinking about joining. I've been a frequent viewer in the US however I think looking at the training schedule it will be a big commitment to take on time wise if I were to join as normally if I become a member I tend to stick it out...
i was looking at a bit of it over in Newcastle at the weekend. A lad got absolutley hammered spark out with one after about 20 seconds. if the travellers do that they get made out to be barbarians
Setanta have bought the exclusive rights for the US UFCs et all from July and have the UK ones exclusive now. I have to say I have become addicted to it. Brock Lesner (WWE reject) makes his UFC debut against Frank Mir at UFC81 and I hope he gets the living snot beaten out of him and I have seen many guys with big reputations debut in the UFC and get there asses handed to them, here's hoping Lesner is next
Anyone see UFC over the weeked with Brock Lesner being made tap out in 90 seconds. I was surprised to see Kurt Angle, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker in the crowd supporting Lesner, seeing how he had a reputation in the WWE as being a total knob that was hated in the dressing room similar to the way Hulk Hogan is hated.
yeah i seen that , have to say though he went through Frank Mir like a steam train though and looked impressive with his power and ground control ,but Frank Mir is one of the best BJJ practitioners around , and was glad to see him leg lock that animal Brock Lesner will be a big deal in it id say
He went at Mir like a heat seeking missle but he has a long way to go if he thinks that all you need to do in MMA is take someone down and then try to punch their head through the mat. Granted there are a fair number of heavyweights that would work on but Mir got him so easy people must have been wondering what the hype was all about.
All muscle, no brain - you could see the submission coming even when he was well on top. All Mir wants to do is get you on the ground within reach and then he's a different animal altogether. In saying that I think Lesnar will learn a harsh lesson about thinking it's over before it is and forgetting his defence and will do quite well Glad to see Silvia tap out to Noguera - he is the most one dimensional boring fighter out there, granted one with a helluva punch on him
Mir/Noguera will be a good match up. I wouldnt be surprised if the Lesner camp tried to get their next match with Silva, he proved he had nothing on the mat with Noguera getting past his guard in a second like it wasnt there, he is someone Lesner could smash to pieces. I thought the Heath/Boetsch was the best fight of a bad card, the way Boetsch just picked Heath up and tossed him into the fence landing on his head (which pretty much knocked him out) was the move of the night.
