    Reds announce duo's departure
    14th Jul 2010 - Latest News

Liverpool have confirmed that both Francisco Duran and Nikolay Mihaylov have left the club.

The young duo joined the Reds back in 2007 but failed to make an impact on the first-team scene.

Duran arrived from Malaga in the January transfer window but despite showing glimpses of his talent in the reserves, the Spanish midfielder endured an injury-prone spell at Anfield, and departs following the expiration of his contract earlier this summer.

Mihaylov was signed from Levski Sofia but never looked like ousting Pepe Reina from the first-team goal, and after spending the 2009-10 season on loan at Dutch side FC Twente, he has now made the move permanent

Thought we sold Nikolay Mihaylov in feb to FC Twente for £1.5m ?

It's the same in the reserves/youth set up at every premier club. We just happen to know them at Liverpool.

We need to be bringing in better talent imo. Duran to be honest would have made it except for his injuries.
Also the cut throat business off the premier league Managers are afraid imo to take chances on the players at their academy's.

Thought Duran finished the season back from injury and thought under Peter Brukner we might have seen him get at least 1 more season..... when fit he was head and shoulders above every one else in the reserves.

Duran was meant to be a ig talent and was doing well in the reserve team until he picked up those two injuries which ruled him out for nearly two years..

Personally slighlty off topic but when it comes to the reserves I would like to see what happens in Spain and have the reserve sides play in the championship
