Real Madrid want Liverpool to lower asking price from £30m for England skipper Steven Gerrard

Real Madrid want Liverpool to drop their valuation of Steven Gerrard as they try to finalise a move for the England midfielder.
The Liverpool captain insists he will not make a decision on his club future until after the World Cup but Real are pressing to put a deal in place.
Liverpool are reluctant to sell the 30-year-old but know he is not happy with the club's progress. And if he insists on going they want close to £30m.
Speaking after England's draw with Algeria on Friday, Gerrard reportedly told Spanish media: 'It is possible that I'll be in Madrid next season. I'm aware of the club's offer so maybe we'll see each other in Madrid. I can't say anymore.
'I'm just concentrating on the World Cup. My agent is looking after it all.'
Real believe Gerrard is overpriced and have inquired about Roma's Italy international Daniele de Rossi as an alternative. They expect to pay about £20m for Gerrard but could be in for some hard bargaining.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have rekindled interest in Gerrard's clubmate Javier Mascherano.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Can't really blame Gerrard if he wants away to win a few league titles before his career is over.
I would feel worse for him though if he actually showed up last season & didn't spend most of it moaning at younger players.

Dont believe he said that for a number of reasons..

1.He said he wasnt going to talk about his club football to the world cup has been over. And in fairness to him he has stuck to that.

2.The biggest game for his country and himself is coming up next, as he is captain and he has to lead the troops so id say he will be focusing on that, rather than talking to the Daily Fail.

dont believe he did..Why would he talk to them, when there is some much shit going on regarding the england team at the moment..He said he will talk about his future AFTER the world cup and i think he is decent enough to stick to his word and do that. This is the first time we have "Reportldy " seen comments from him, and it comes just before a big world cup game for him.

I think and believe its some media sh*t stirring been honest.

Imo some reporter asked him about the interest from Madrid , which maybe Gerrard said yes there is interest from Madrid which is out in the open anyway.... and that was enough to spin the story ...
