what is the story with his contract at Chelski? I don't know about you, but if he is for free - i would take him any day. Still an excellent talent

He might be free but his wages demands are out of our league at the present time

Take him tomorrow if at all possible, i think he would like to play for us too..

Wages maybe a stumbling block, but he's on a free so will get a nice signing on fee..

He wants 5million a year,. Then you'll have to throw bonuses in top of that too, and his signing on fee is in tge region if 6-10million, if Chelsea can't afford him we certainly can't afford the greedy little money hungry cnut,. He's no free transfer!

Any decent player who is signed on a bosman will command a signing on fee ...
Kewell , Maxi , Jankvoic , Voronin just to name a few ...

Did I hear on radio earlier that Spurs allegedly told him to lower his demands if he was going with them?

Decent when he signed , deserve more of a chance at the start imo .... at the end he was terrible but imo his confidence and attitude was shot with the lack of football he got with us .

    £20m for Keane v £0m { plus £1m signing on fee i read } and imo there wasn't much difference ..

I dont agree mate, I dont think Robbie got a fair crack of the whip and when he did get a run he showed some good form, scored a couple too. Id say he could have worked well if Rafa wanted him there

Think it was the same with Voronin not getting a fair crack of the whip , but £20m v £0m ?
Keane missed sitters to be honest once kicked his own foot with the goal gaping at him ....
Would prefer Robbie but Voronin plus £20m to spend or Keane ?

No I see where your coming from mate, I just think Keane could have proved he was worth the fee if he was given a consistent run, Vornin has only proved he hated the city and half the people around him

Would love him for sure. London lad though, always been down there, think he mite like to stay there, probably at chelsea be his preference but possibly even Spurs just to stay in the bright lights of London be my impression of him.

Keane started the first 18 games of the season or something. He was given a fair crack of the whip and it wasn't working out.

Don't also forget that just after he moved to Liverpool he found out his wife was pregnant and she never moved to Liverpool as her home was London. So Keane was commuting to see his pregnant wife.

Alot more to the Keane situation than people think. It wasn't just a football decision that he ended up leaving Liverpool.

Anyway, sorry for continuing to derail a Joe Cole thread just wanted to mention the Keane stuff.

Thought at the time £20m was way over the top ..... for a striker that was averaging around 13 goals a season for spurs ...
Voronin turned out to be a idiot in the end but wasn't much risk in £0m...

But still feel at the start he didn't get a fair crack of the whip as well .

Put you personal opinions aside regarding Joe Cole as a person and think of the footballer when considering if he could do a job for us. I think he is a talented player who would fit in nicely with the formation we play. However there will be many clubs with more financial clout looking to get him in so any possiblity of him coming to us is unlikely.
