Defender Danny Wilson is expected to agree a move from Rangers to Liverpool in the next seven days.

The 18-year-old has just over a year left on his contract and had turned down the new deal on offer to him.

Liverpool had a previous bid turned down but have returned with an improved offer in the region of £2m plus add-ons that Rangers have deemed acceptable.

The Ibrox club stood to lose the player for around £500,000 in compensation had he not been sold this summer.

Wilson, who made his debut in October, was recently voted PFA Scotland young player of the year, having made over 20 appearances - two in the Champions League - and scored once this season.

Injury ended his campaign prematurely, but he will leave Ibrox with winners' medals from Rangers' Scottish Premier League and Co-operative Insurance Cup triumphs.

Him and Ayala look like good business, you'd have to take at least one if not both of them will become permanent fixtures in our team in few years.

Wonder where all this money is coming from to buy these young lads.

Another one for the future I think.

I fear Rafa's been told he can only have cash to fund a few small price players, so he's using the funds to try and invest for the future ... in the hopes of signing someone who will become a star, in the future.

Good to see us sign some young British players.I still think we missed a trick with Adam Johnson.Cost City something in the region of 6m.Seems like a bargain now.

I see were your coming from but the debt were in id be surprised if that money hasn't got to service or future service the debt ..

Imo the reason were bring in good young talent and beside the new rules for having certain amount of home grown players at the club ... is more down to our youth coach Rodolfo Borrell's criticism just last week about the "unacceptable" standard of the club's academy.

"The under-18s had no centre forward, no balance, no tactical level, no understanding of the game.
Borrell's brief from Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is to develop more English players.

"I agree - the best players to defend the Barca shirt are Catalan players, the best players to defend the Liverpool shirt are English players," Borrell

Liverpool poised to wrap up £2.5m deal for Rangers' 18-year-old defender Danny Wilson

Liverpool expect to sign Rangers defender Danny Wilson over the next 48 hours.

Tottenham had shown interest in the 18-year-old but Liverpool have increased their offer to £2.5million and hope to ratify the deal early this week.

Centre half Wilson, voted Scotland's young player of the year, has only one year left on contract and had refused a new deal.

I dont watch much SPL so is he any use? Im assuming he is if he's picked up young player of year & we're prepared to spend 2.5mill if the reports are true?

Hope he's one for the very near future if he shows he's good enough.

Caught the end of an interview with him on SSN last night and it doesn't seem as if we have signed him yet. He mentioned some common ground needed to be found (assume he meant with us) and that other offers have to be considered as well.

TEENAGER Danny Wilson has snubbed Champions Rangers by rejecting a staggering £12,000 a week extended contract in favour of a move to Liverpool.
The 18 year old was offered the biggest ever financial deal for a player in his age group at Ibrox but has opted to sign for Rafael Benitez's side later this week.
The central defender who has also knocked back interest from Spurs was earning just £700 a week last year before breaking into the Rangers first team and making a significant impact on both the domestic and European fronts.
His decision to head for Anfield in a transfer worth up to £3m with add ons means he will be sacrificing playing in the Champions League next season with both Rangers and Spurs.
But the Scottish Football Writers and PFA Young Player of the Year who made 24 first team appearances in his debut season scoring once has been lured to Liverpool to work with former Celtic and Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish.
Wilson has just over a year on his current contract and boss Walter Smith was keen to keep him for the longer term believing it would benefit his career and secure him more regular first team football.
Livingston-born Wilson came through Rangers youth system. He made his debut against Dundee last October and the following month the then 17-year-old became the youngest Rangers player to ever play in the Champions League.
In total he has made 24 appearances this season and scored his first goal for the club in their recent 4-1 win over Hearts.

Haven't seen much of the u18's but their must be a improvement already under Borrell ...

Rodolfo Borrell's side ended the campaign on a 10-game unbeaten run and played some sparkling football in 2009-10.

One of the highlights was a fantastic FA Youth Cup performance when they beat Leicester City 5-1

probably in the wrong thread but what I have seen of the Academy Raheem Sterling looks like a fine player and the lad up front Ngoo always seems to have a bit about him reminds me a bit like Peter Crouch
