from the poster anny road of YNWA. Love Didi me. Class player and fella rolled into one.

"Didi Hamann at the Four Seasons in Hale today

Nice fella as I have mentioned before

he is currently doing his coaching badges at Liverpool, in fact he was due to be assessed today but the weather put paid to it at the Academy..He is working with the Under 10's, 12's & 15's

Anyway he said a few things (chatting to him for about 20 mins)

He thinks someone is about to buy Gillett.....rumours are flying at the moment and he thinks it could be imminent...He also said "Hicks is in it for the long term"

He talks to Stevie and Carral alot, and the dressing room is totally behind Rafa, but confidence has been low (he said Carra has been "a shell of himself" until recently). He said that is improving with the win at Villa being "masssive for morale"

He thinks the squad "lacks alot of quaility" and we overachieved massively last season

Stevie is looking to do his coaching badges in the next few seasons, and wants to go onto the coaching staff when he finishes.....That led me to push him on the Doomsday summer scenario and he said that there was no way on earth Gerrard would choose to leave now, and if he was sold it would be totally against his wishes. He doesnt know torres apart from a passing hello, but gets the feeling he is totally happy at Liverpool and he loves the club and city

Nothing new I know but interesting to hear it from someone actually within the club

He also gave a United fan the brush off.....A bloke came in and it was obv we were talking about Liverpool and he said "oh dont mind me, I dont like intruding in private grief"....I said "what?" and he said "well you are obv both Liverpool fans".....I was pissing myself and then Didi pipes up "United yeah?"....."yep"...."right well you lot are not exactly firing on all cylinders so I wouldnt look too smug if I were you"....the bloke then realised who he was and made his excuses"

    well in didi

Great player changed the game in istanbul when he came on
hope he is wrong about hicks though
Gillett selling up is a small step in the right direction but id be weary who would want to work with the other tool

Good post alright interesting to say the least. I say Didi is very close with Carragher and Gerrard so what he says is on the money I would say.

Thanks for posting. Always loved Didi. Very interesting. I'm delighted to hear from someone like him that "the dressing room is totally behind Rafa".

    Dietmar Hamann

Couldn't find a thread for him here, but i think he deserves one :) One of my all time favourite Liverpool players

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietmar_Hamann

    "Liverpool
Hamann established himself as an influential midfielder for Liverpool throughout his 7 years at the club. All in all, Hamann played in 191 league games and scored eight goals. In the 2000–01 season, Hamann won his first big English trophy when Liverpool won a much-celebrated cup treble (League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup) and a place in the Champions League.[4][5]

Hamann established himself as a major first team player for Liverpool throughout his first few seasons there. Despite playing in a strongly defensive midfield role he even popped up with some crucial and brilliant goals from time to time.

Hamann played a major part in the 2005 Champions League Final win over A.C. Milan. Although he was suffering a broken toe during the final,[6] Hamann's substitution for Steve Finnan was the catalyst for Liverpool's historic fightback. The team rallied after being 3–0 down to bring the game back to 3–3 and finally won in the penalty shootout; Hamann also showed a great amount of composure and bravery, as he took and converted the first LFC penalty with his broken foot.[7] This was not the only key part he played in their Champions league success. Earlier in the tournament Hamann had been forced to stand in for Liverpool's key player Steven Gerrard in the first leg of the last 16 round against Bayer Leverkusen. He excelled in the match and scored a late free-kick as Liverpool won the match 3–1.

Hamann won the FA Cup with Liverpool in May 2006, coming on as a substitute in the second-half. He more than played his part in another trophy win for the Reds, who were 3–2 down to West Ham United at the time he came on. Steven Gerrard scored an injury-time leveller for Liverpool to take the match to extra-time. Liverpool would go on to win the Cup on penalties after a goalless extra-time. Once again, Hamann scored the first penalty in the shoot-out.[8]"

Its a strange one alright..you would think he would be getting his fitness work in seen as he hasnt played club football in a year and will be playing for MK Dons next season.True Liverpool legend though. Wouldnt have won in Istanbul if it weren't for him.

Dietmar Hamann is a contender to return to Liverpool as part of Kenny Dalglish’s new-look backroom staff, Goal.com UK can disclose
