Ok, we are out of the CL. Disaster all round. In the Europa League now. Lets go out and win the first ever one. The Final is in Hamburg. There are some decent teams in it, Ajax, Hamburg, Valencia, Roma, PSV, Werder Bremen, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica. Celtic and Everton are also in there Other third place teams could contain Inter, Athletico, CSKA and Bayern Munich. There is a not as much money involved but a good run in the competition (To the Final) would surely bring the same finance in as making it to next round of the CL and losing.
It will in its ring lad. The money is no where close to the knockout stages of the champs league even if we do win it and they way we are playing lately its very doubtful we will.
So if we got the whole way to final the attendances, tv money, sponsorship would be less than one two legged encounter in the CL?
Shit tournament. Even neverton put out a reserve side in it. Say's it all. i'd rather we did'nt have to play in Europe at all. Depressing.
If the money was that good would ya not think Villa and Everton would have played better teams instead of concentrating on the league?
if we get to a final this year I couldn't give a flying fcuk what the name of the cup is called as long as we're in a final.
How last years money was divided for the europa cup...... EUR 70,000 was awarded to each club that qualified for the round of 32, with the exception of those that entered via the UEFA Champions League group matches; a further EUR 70,000 was paid to the clubs that made it into the round of 16, again with the exception of those that entered from the Champions League; ■ each quarter-finalist received EUR 300,000; ■ each semi-finalist was awarded an additional EUR 600,000; ■ the winners of the final in Istanbul, Shakhtar Donetsk, received EUR 2.5 million; Werder Bremen were awarded EUR 1.5 million for reaching the final. Since the centralised marketing system applied from the quarter-finals http://avoidingthedrop.com/2009/08/...ey-in-the-champions-league-and-europa-league/
Jesus thursday night football on 3e or tv3,setanta or what ever will be shocking... The flight situation is a great point made by sean and i never thought of that...Nothing seems to be going over way..

Obviously would prefer to be in the CL but its Europa League now...want to win this! Good chance for a trophy!
Nothing really out there worth booking flights wise. Even knowing that games won't be on a Saturday it still a risk booking over inflated prices as they stand. Blackburn and Pompey could easily be switched to a Monday night by ESPN, and there's nothing cheap going past that. Fulham was always going to be on the Sunday cos of the Grand National.
