The new IPhone is out this week and thinking of getting one. I am with Vodafone for the last almost 10 years and thinking of a change as the mob has seen better days and none of the new nokias take my fancy. My Ipod Nano is full and digi camera is ancient, so could be a chance to upgrade three gadgets in one. Anyone here have an I phone? what's the camera quality like and is it dear to surf the net if you are not connected to a hotspot?
If you're getting one then obviously get the new one; the iPhone 3GS. Details on the phone can he found here. On your two questions, the camera is poor with the original iPhone, but the new one is an improvement and also has video capabilities which are surprisingly good. With regards data, as with any provider if you go above your limit you'll be raped (1GB limit). I usually just use mine at home over my wireless network so that way I'm not eating into my data limit. I've never gone over it. All I can say is go for it. One of the best toys I've bought.
Yeah its defo the new model I would be looking at. Are the cumbersome to use and haul around though as opposed to your normal nokia?
I have a IPhone 3G since febuaray and only last week their was a software upgrade which enhanced the camera and pretty good quality now. Also good few extras, excellent in my opinion. You need to get the 16 - 32Gb better memory and more storage space. IPhone is excellent and the best purchase i've got in years. Has all you need and you can download applications to suit your needs etc,.
I'll put it this way. I always owned Nokias. I'm a software developer myself and found their os to be the easiest and most intuitive to use (a caveat on this would be that this is perhaps becoming less so over the years). Then I bought an iPhone. Apple basically came along and seemed to ask the question - "Why do all current mobile phone designers do things this way?". And instead, they decided to do it their way. It's in a way a whole new type of os that in my opinion defines ease of use. The missus still has a Nokia (an N95). Everytime she asks me to do something on it for her I die a small bit inside because I know I'll have to go through God knows how many menus to do something that is a couple of screen clicks on my iPhone. The size isn't small, particularly with a cover. But it doesn't even slightly bother me. It's my phone, organiser, email, camera, iPod etc all in one so I'm not fussed! I have literally become a tard using any other phone now. But don't take this the wrong way. I am interested in technology, so until there is actually a true iPhone "killer" on the market - my next phone will be an iPhone, the next one after that an iPhone, the next ...
Was surprised at this, didn't expect the camera to be improved (most issues are related to hardware, i.e. only 2 megapixies and lens issue). However it does appear there has been a slight improvement due to the software upgrade (primarily around image stabilisation and blur reduction). I love the fact we can MMS now, plus copy and paste at long last! My biggest surprise was the stereo bluetooth; I don't need an aux-in cable to connect to my stereo anymore!
lol! Believe it or not I'd be more anti-Apple than anything (certainly before the iPhone came out anyway). I'm a Windows developer so I'm a PC/Microsoft man The one thing that annoys me about Apple is the fact they're hardware isn't more "open", i.e. they always put restrictions in place to try and force you to buy other Apple products (i.e. songs from iTunes etc). But I bloody love my iPhone .....
Their were issues when i downloaded connecting to websites via safari but a call to apple sorted it! They said that a huge amount of people had same problem. Image stability and blur reduction has made a big difference. Voice memos also very handy! MMS is also cool if its not bad enough listening to her you now get a picture as well!!
I can only say yes. The UI is so straight forward mate. I'd recommend trying to get a play of one in a shop or something just to see for yourself. But seriously, while it's different to other phones it's good different - so much more user friendly!
He he Remember there are 10 free MMS messages a month from now on as well. I got lucky, was still in work and done a final check to see if 3.0 was in. It was, and had no probs downloading (though probably at this stage not many people were using it). One of the lads in work came in the next morning asking did anyone have any problems with iTunes last night! He doesn't have an iPhone was just trying to download music Apparently there were massive server load problems. The other thing I like is the option to make SMS text now not visible on receiving one on standby. Was really annoying the way someone could pick up your phone and see part of the text of your SMS without you even having opened it. Pity they still haven't added flash support though
199 for the phone, 45 a month which includes 150 free minutes to any network, 100 free texts, 10 free mms and 1GB data limit.
i have one,its rubbish, the battery is useless, there is no bluetooth, and canot record video theyre just a few things off the top of my head,if your thinking of getting an iphone i think your better off going down the n86 etc route
i also have one and ignore that post There not rubbish, there is bluetooth on them, battery life is decent unless your watching movies on it the whole time. It has gps, camera ok not great. I have the 3g one the new one is better, also there is over 25000 applications you can down load from apple for it, by far the best gadet on the market Some of the apps for example i have are arunning tracker - this tracks my runs / cycles via the gps signal, displays it on a website - see here http://www.runkeeper.com/pub/act/RZOjSs3P1TA5EZ0nI61u also there is applications to keep your golf scores, calculates your handicap and stableford scores etc. go for it, if you dont like it ill take it of ya
aidan, have you not downloaded the new software upgrade 3.0 out since 17th gives you loads extra, and enhances the camera a little and picture quality is very good now. That other lad must have the first iPhone and I know that is shit! Friend has one and hates it. The iPhone 3g is the way to go 16-32gb
no mark, i have it on vodafone so i need to wait for a software hack to be released as if i upgrade now i will have the new software but it will be locked to the o2 network, so ill have to wait a few weeks a good app mark is that "golf scores" app well worth the download for a shark like you
