yes its very easy to reach,. and eircom have some of the highest tariffs for going over your limit and they charge by the MB not GB,. and yes streaming counts as does regular Interner Browsing,. the spped is not reliable,. as they do state that it is 'upto' 3mb, thats where they get you, and theres nothing you can do either if you are not reaching your speed,.
I would recommend IrishBroadband are the best, and you dont need a phone line,. if you have a phone line i would go with, Magnet they gurantee your speed,. Wimax if its available would be another good option,.

Me personally, I download circa 40GB a weekend (Friday evening- Sunday night) and im with IrishBroadband,. no line rental either, and no Download Limit,. in thsi day and age, and with Broadband and fast connections, you really need a provider which has no DL limit,.

Sounds too good to be true, expect there's a 12 month contract with Eircom and some other opportunities for them to "do" you.... whats the fine print mate ?

As an aside, I gather UPC's broadband deals are quite good in areas where they are fully digitalised etc, do't have them myself but a mate swears by them for value -vs- capacity and speed.

Same here..have upc,and no complaints. Upgraded to 15mb for the free wirless router offer, they said it was for new customers only, and id have to pay them 50 for the router...so i told them i was cancelling my broadband...but they backtracked, and sent out the wireless router free of charge.

UPC don't give out your details like eircom do if you are a user of p####e b#y and other such sites.

250gb download limit on 15meg line. they might tell you they don't but you'll get a letter in the door if you go over it asking to to move up to the next highest line.

Boll*x forgot all about that! I moved from UPC to Eircom last week onto that new next generation broadband, mainly moved for the house phone bill. I don't download all that much but i'd defo use PB for it all

They are threatening to bring UPC to court if they don't hand over customer details like those pussies eircom and UPC are gonna fight them.

UPC are in court at the moment with IMRO (Irish Music Rights Org). IMRO are only concerned about music and mainly with people who upload it and make it available for everyone else. So if you're only downloading movies or small amounts of music you should be fine. You will get 3 warnings from Eircom if you're a bad boy. One phone call, 2 letters, before any court proceedings so plenty of time to clean up your act.

The French government brought in similar "3 strikes" legislation but it cost them €64m last year as every single trace they do costs about €8 and add to that admin and legal bills.
Thats why nobody wants to police the internet... too costly.
