What are your thoughts on us possibly signing Lambert?
I think it's good business if it is 4m.
In an ideal world I would want our 3rd striker to be of a higher quality but if we cannot entice some of those types to the club this Summer, we could do a lot worse.

I think at this price point it would be a good bit of business.

i think its a good move. he is good with the ball on the deck and he will give us a different option going forward when it needs to be changed.

For the tough aways in europe it will be good to have a big striker in the squad

Yeah I think his movement and touch are very good plus his finishing is excellent - he doesn't have blistering pace but he would fit into our system well giving us a different option.

i think it would be a very good signing. Sturridge probably won't be fit for the whole season, Lambert will be better with us as he'll be playing with better players.

A sniff of a transfer to us for Lambert, and he will come calling. It would be his last big chance of his career.

    Hopefully he comes

Would be delighted if we got him calm and effective player. Wonder what contract he'd get 2-3year max

SSN were quoting 8/9m this morning, not sure that range is as good value.

Good option to have. He'll give his all every time he gets a chance.you want players with his desire and attitude at the club. Great signing if it comes off.

No brainer of a signing for anything around £5m, outstanding scoring record, plays in a team that sets up like us, loves the club, and won't moan of he's not playing most weeks. And he's not Aspas or Moses.

Sign him up. Compared to that what we had on the bench last season it's a huge upgrade. Wants to play for the club, offers us something different and a Plan B too which I think we needed at times last season. 5 million is pennies really. We probably paid Chelsea that in wages alone for that piece of muck Moses.

Looks done now pending medical. Astute signing, very happy. From Blackpool, Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers to Southampton and now towards the end of his career the club he loves and the greatest in the land. What a story. Dreams do come true. Never too late in life if you work hard. He must be buzzing!!!

Probably an astute piece of business if it comes off for somewhere around £5 million. No doubt he'd be willing to accept whatever role he could get with us for a chance to join us which is exactly what we need. If we are signing him I would expect that Borini will return and that will be our strike force next season. A midfielder and a couple of full backs and I think we're ready to go.

James Pearce in the Echo said the fee is £4M.
Great signing for that price I think

Perfect 3rd/4th choice striker, happy to be a squad man, his attitude will be tops too imagine, signing for your dream club at his age. Great move for all concerned, should get a 2 or 3 good seasons out of him and he can play and finish too.

I can't see the fee exceeding 6 million so in that respect it's a great bit of business. He's the plan B we've been looking for

The Pernicious One dares anybody to post that he is "Not an FSG signing" because Ricky Lambert is in fact, pure Moneyball, Baby!
