Had a great game. Other than his kicking, he was faultless. Still think we are only kidding ourselves if we don't think we don't need a new keeper still. What I would do for Courtois Going to be the best in the world, no doubt about it.
Mignolet now has the most number of clean sheets in the PL this season, shows what a spell on the sidelines can do for a players confidence.
Since the Leicester game we've been very solid at the back and he's been very good as have the 3 cb's , we conceded 3 goals in 8 games, one v Wimbledon was a foul on the keeper in any standard of football except FA cup early rounds where refs let loads go, but those who want him out blamed him on it, one was a penalty and one that gobshite Ballotelli didn't bother his arse. Now when you consider brad jones conceded 5 goals in 8 shots, there's people who actually wanted jones selected ahead of him.
Picked himself up off the floor and has really improved on 2 of his 3 weaknesses since returning to the team. Communication and controlling the box. Long May his form continue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
His punching and coming for the ball has improved a lot more commanding , throwing it out has also improved but feel he could speed it up a lot of the time . Overall FairPlay to him Feel the 343 suits him as it does for lucas and Skrtel as well . Suppose for most the side with our pressing
He's a lot better at dealing with crosses in the past few games, thought he played quite well today but his kicking still needs improvement.
True he has become better at crosses but he still has work to do on he's judgement when to come out there was one intence today missed the ball totally I'm sure it was Reid who missed it into a open goal, migs was caught rotten for it. He certainly improved but still has a bit to go.
I hope the manager isn't fooled into thinking we don't need a keeper, the team is playing well and he has less to do. There has been a big improvement in his general concentration but even at that he's thrown in 2 clangers that could have cost us 4 points but for 2 shit headers.
I'd imagine a settled back 3 has helped him a lot more, and the exclusion of Lovern would be another factor. Needs to keep improving. I would love to see him shouting more at the defense and been a leader from the back.
He has done well lately in fairness to him but cannot be number 1 next season. Not getting a number one goalkeeper in during the summer, would be equivalent to signing your own death warrant. I hope the infamous transfer committee dont think our GK situation is solved because of a half decent couple of games or that our striker situation is fine because Sturridge is back.
Massive improvement in this lad in the last 4 games. He appears to have somehow grown a pair of BALLS and he's playing much better for it. Congrads to him, brilliant and long may it continue. Distribution is still poor but he's coming out of his 6 Yard box again which l think all top goalies in the Prem need to do. Interestingly I was talking to a Man U fan and he was saying that De Gea is having a brilliant season for shot stopping but he was saying he doesn't come off his line since his tricky spell 18 Months ago and he was actually very criticial of him on that. I watched him a bit since and he's been slow off the goal line.
Noticed that with DeGea,very reluctant to come off his line. One incident in the Southampton game where a defender tried to shepherd the ball back to him was rediculous.
I don't think any of us thought Mignolet would rediscover this type of form with us this season. The way he's playing now makes him good enough to be our keeper going forward but the level he dropped to was so alarming,I don't know if I'd risk not buying a keeper in the summer. But the decisiveness he's showing lately is a great help to the defence. Knowing what your keeper is going to do and trusting him to do it is very important and the odd time he'll come and miss one is worth it. One thing I will say is that he needs to change his approach to penalties. He's faced about 20 odd this season and he must have went the wrong way for 95% of them.
You need to make a clear decision on it though. Mignolet was reacting very late a lot earlier this year and ending up in no mans land, if you come you have to be sure to clear man and ball. If not stay on your line and hope that your defence can deal with it and be ready to make a save. Worst thing to do is get caught in two minds which is what was happening Mignolet a lot and he ended up completely lost. Different player of late and it's great to see.
Simon got his groove back. I don't know how he picked himself back up but he did. The settled defense and the re introduction of Lucas in the DM role have helped. Long may it continue.
Helped immensely by the addition of Can in defense and Lucas/Henderson in front of the back 3. However, he needs competition.
