Have recently started to use the On this day feature on lfchistory.net and it rekindled some great memories. For example, for today...

On this day in 2009, LFC drew 4-4 with Arsenal. One of the best games I was ever at, fantastic atmosphere where a win would've maintained our push for the title. There's something about those midweek games at the end of a season when the stakes are high.

On this day in 2007, we beat Wigan at home through a couple of Kuyt goals. I'll forever associate that day with it being the day that Oh Campione! became a big hit and became part of our journey to Athens.

In 2003, it was the Traore mistake against Charlton. I think it was Easter Monday. Still one down, 5 mins to go, attacking the Kop and we win 2-1 !!

    Great memories !!

I was at that Charlton game, didnt Traore just fall on the ball and your man went thru on goal and scored?.

Think it was Hyppia who scored from a corner? but defo member the winner, gerrard comming in from the wing and was been fouled n just hit it, keeper should have kept it out but place went crazy.

One of my best ever nights at Anfield. Moral of the story always play to the final whistle.

    Great thread!!

I just read that we have clinched the title three times on this day and in 1976, Ray Clemence scored a HATTRICK in a testimonial at Tranmere. hee.

A special day by all accounts!!!

I was at the Arsenal game and the Charlton game. Traore made his mistake right in front of us!

Despite being the night the title dream ended, I remember being so proud of the team coming out of anfield after that 4-4. Brilliant game and the atmosphere was incredible

that Arsenal game was one of the most bizarre ive ever been to. was a lovely balmy April evening. we battered them. they had 4 chances on the night and scored all 4. the mosaic on the Kop for Ray Kennedy on the night was a lovely touch too.

that's why I felt no sypathy for them whatsoever on Sunday. two years earlier they all but ended our title dreams.

Sure was an amazing game alright, finished it off doing an all nighter in town, fell on the stairs in the funky box and cracked a rib ... fuk me, that hurt for a good 4-6 weeks afterwards, not to mention the feeling of having dropped 2 points at home to arsenal - that took even longer to get over :D

Have to give Luis a mention here, it was on this day in 2006 when he repeated his trick of knocking Chelsea out of a semi final with his winning goal at the kip. Joe Cole's miss near the end that day is still the biggest contribution he made to his current club.

Today's date will forever be associated with monumental victories over Chelsea. There's a thread already on the Champions League Semi Final from 2005 but another special victory over Chelsea was recorded on this date in 1986 as Liverpool clinched the title at the Bridge.

Kenny got the goal and a horse race got in the way of RTE's coverage of the first 10 mins.

Today, 9th May, marks 19 years since Liverpool's 1992 FA Cup triumph, which was their last at Wembley. Michael Thomas and Ian Rush got the goals.

May 12th 2001, Liverpool 2 Arsenal 1, one of the finest goalkeeping displays at a cup final since Jim Montgomery in 1973. Great day. Had a few during the game and popped down the street in Letterkenny and into a small establishment, sitting at the bar was none other then Ray Houghton...not quite sure what I was chatting to him about mind.

    2 questions:

Did that goalkeeper ever play centre half for Switzerland?

And did Harry Blake own the small establishment??
