Nothing any fan who looks at the bigger picture doesn't know already but well put together and may spark a bit of realization into some of the fans who aren't at the races. Sad but true. But hopefully the players are full of pride and determination to show opposition that we are Liverpool FC, and not resignation and disappointment about the way things have gone. The way I see it, this is what we have, let's fcuking go out there and perform as a team and we will do well, but it's only with the right attitude, few injuries and a lot of luck that will give us a chance of 4th.

Too right. Off the field things are at rock bottom and that's were the focus should be now, no significant progress will be made until the yanks are gone and proper owners are in place.

On the field I will be satisfied with some good performances and players fighting for the shirt. Top four would be a real achievement with the squad as is. Pride and effort was missing last season, whether its down to the players or manager at the time will be talked about for a long time, however I wont be wasting any more time discussing the reasons for it.

agree with plenty of that, except roy has vast european and international experience.Lets not belittle his career as manager to further prove the americans wrong.
If rafa had to go(I dont believe he did)then Roy is a qaulity guy to get in and a better coach than many here give him credit for.

Whats a better achievement, spemding 150m on players and being embarrassed in the champions league and ending up empty handed or keeping fulham up,stay top half and go to the Europa league final?

Didn't think it was pro Rafa or anti Roy at all just the facts of what's going on at the moment.

I agree, and I don't think the original poster meant any offense to Roy either nor does he dislike him or 'anti roy'

I wouldn't worry about the comments on it being "pro-Rafa/anti-Roy" lads; it's a case of not being capable of facing reality so instead creating a straw mans argument. I was hoping for an interesting debate on the OP, not childish single line comments like that quoted which couldn't even remotely be regarded as contributory. However, as stated, certain things (I am learning) are best ignored...

Biggest shock of the transfer window for me was that we actually signed someone of (hopefully) genuine quality in Meireles, wasn't expecting anything other than a few steady the ship players.

Nicely put together piece, if it opens a few more fans eyes as to what is really going on at our club then you can only applaud it. I'm f**king dreading the January transfer window already.

I have conflicting feelings about Roy right now, but overall I was always aware that the job ahead of him was not going to be the same as Rafa‘s, so I think that has allowed me to understand him a little bit better than some. Rafael Benitez wanted to win trophies, build the club up, create foundations that would sustain Liverpool long into the future and win as many trophies as possible. I never expected Roy to do that. If we were still looking to be the best in the short-term, Manuel Pellegrini would have been signed up and given at least £20m to spend with no compulsion to sell. That didn’t happen because it wasn’t financially viable to do so. Instead of signing up a tactically-minded, highly-rated coach with vast European experience for nothing, we paid Fulham for an English manager six years his senior with little experience of competing for the game’s biggest prizes. Again, like I said about Paul Konchesky, that’s not to knock Roy - he’s just a symptom of a far greater problem.

That whole paragraph clearly states exactly what he thinks of Roy Hodgson, too old for the job with no ambition and little experience in europe (even though he brought both Fulham & Inter Milan to the uefa cup final). And what does he expect Roy to do? not win trophies, not build the club up, not create foundations? His love for Rafa is clear while his failure to give Roy a chance is obvious too.

I don't think he's saying that he's not giving Roy a chance just stating how the clubs ambitions have changed, before we were looking at teams better than us/on the same level as us for a manager where as now we're looking down the table to find our manager.

I'm not pro Rafa or Anti Roy but what I think he's saying is that before we had a choice between Alan Curbishley, the manager of the club who finished 7th in the league and Rafa Benitez, the manager of a club who'd broken up the monopoly in La Liga by getting Valencia to first place, we went for Benitez. This time around we had Roy Hodgson who finished 13th in the league and got to a Europa League final or Pellegrini who finished second in La Liga and we went for Hodgson.

In my opinion Hodgson has been brought in to basically steady up the ship and try to lay a foundation for success in the future. We can't really expect a 63 year old manager to last long enough in management to bring us success whereas if we were ambitous now we'd be looking at a manager who has the potential to stay with us for 5 or 6 years at least and he would have been given the money to spend, in order to turn the club into a successful trophy winning team again and this is the main point of this post not any dispute about what manager the poster likes.
