Here's a thread for general boxing discussions, there seems to be a good few boxing fans on here and other fight specific threads getting side tracked so here's one we can discuss what ever
Bernard Dunne, no idea what to make of him to be honest. Will he ever be a world Champion??? Hopefully he wins on Sat anyway to put him on the road to a title challenge. Fight of the year coming up. Pacman and De La Hoya..First weekend in December i think.
I hope its a good one but it could potentially be a major miss match due to the large weight difference. Biggest thing will be if Manny can bring his power with him, he managed it a lightweight by destroying Diaz but Del a hoya's a natual welterweight
Oisin Fagan (Portmarnock's finest) Vs Amir Khan; London Arena 6th December, looking forward to a great night there
haven't heard much about him, did he only start boxing late enough around 27? A bloke in the job reckons he was a bare knuckle fighter at one stage no idea if thats true
david haye fighting this weekend, really like the look of him and the heavyweight division needs livening up(whether he does it or not is another thing) the pacman/de la hoya fight is nonsense. The weight difference is unreal but oscar seems to be taking this fight very seriously, have you seen the pictures of him. The sparring partners for this are also excellent, valero for oscar and pac man is using khan and marvin cordova.
Surprised De le Hoya has'nt packed it in yet, last couple of fights he was involved in he said was his last, I think he was hoping to fight Mayweather again but hes now retired, anyway Oscar is a legend.
Yeah, he spent a couple of years in Tallaght but most of his life in Portmarnock. Started fighting in his late 20's and got a break while he was working as a primary teacher in America, he fought Verquan Kimbrough and Chavez Jnr over there, fought in the MGM Grande a couple of years ago.... fairytale stuff, another of my mates did the spit bucket for him in Vegas He was never a bare knuckle fighter as far as I know
Holyfield looking to be oldest heavyweight champion next month at 46!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/7661486.stm Did anyone see the programme on ch4 durin the week about Ali V Frazer I missed it but a mate said it was great
Yeah i was reading that although Roach reckons Valero is a mistake on oscars part as he's nothing like Pacman
David Haye has his first fight at Heavyweight Saturday, hes a mouthy f***** but is pretty good and could do well in what is now a very poor division, anybody think he could hit the top or flop.
Anyone watching the Bernie Dunne fight on RTE?. He's doing very well at the moment. Nice to see him doing well, he's a good lad - and a red!
Feckin hell, I completely forgot about it... Thanks Mrs.StevieG, you're a lifesaver, I'm off for a bottle of beer to watch rest of it, cant believe I forgot that
