Really hope he is sold asap and we can get the reported £15m for him. His injury record is very poor and I don't think that will change given the frame of the man. Must go down as one of the worst pieces of transfer business, if not THEE worst, in English football. Frustrating to think that we got £30m for Alonso and £50m for Torres and blew £55m of it on Carroll and Aquilani.
Wont find many disagreeing with you on that one. Although if the rumours today are to be believed, Chelseas 50 million for Torres is right up there with it. 8 league goals this campaign, and supposedly on his way back to Athletico for 15-20 million. At least we look like only losing 20 million on Carroll. Be happy to see him off the books and a few bob in the kitty for the manager to play with.
Brendan Rodgers anticipates that Andy Carroll's future will be resolved quickly after staging talks with the striker to assess his loan spell at West Ham. The striker scored seven goals in 24 league appearances for Sam Allardyce's men during a season-long loan. Rodgers told the media: "I spoke to him and we had a good chat. The boy is a talent. It's just something we need to assess between now and the end of the window. "It was just a general conversation in terms of the experience of getting out and playing. He enjoyed that apart from the injury. "At the start of the season the whole thing was about going and getting games because he wasn't going to be a starter here. "We will talk again with him and the club to see how it all evolves. It's one of those situations where it will probably be resolved a lot quicker than that for both parties. "The objective at the beginning of the season was for him to go out and play. He's gone away to think of what we spoke about."
Rodgers should go somewhere quiet for a week, by himself, and just say nothing for the entire week. He needs practice in saying nothing.
haha true that-he sometimes reminds me of people who just talk and talk for the sake of it.doesn't matter what their saying as long as their their talking
We're seriously in the brown stuff with Carroll if there is any truth in the Negredo rumours. There is no way they will splash out around the £15m mark for both. Is this scare tactics to ignite a decision from the player or invite a dropped price from Liverpool? 'Spanish club Sevilla claim they have rejected a £14.5m offer from West Ham for striker Alvaro Negredo. Club president Jose Maria del Nido says the club is under no pressure to sell after agreeing a deal to send Jesus Navas to Manchester City.' We need to get rid soonest before silly season starts.
Hammer fan saying Fat Sam wants both looking for another top striker to play off Carroll Also looking to loan Lukaku I'm thinking they got turned down for Lukaku and are going for another striker even if it means splashing the new tv cash
If West Ham can spend that amount this summer makes you wonder what the rest of the teams can spend too with this new TV deal kicking in.
You'd think we'd splash some of the TV cash. If our budget is only 20 mil, and West Ham can afford to go for 2 15mil players, it really makes you wonder how we'll compete again.
Agree 100% mate. If anything, we need to spend more, not just to keep pace with others, but to try and overtake those with stronger squads, higher up the table. Obviously, I'm working on the logic that we also spend the money wisely, on quality players ....
With his move to West Ham nearly completed,I thought it might have been gone for good, but yesterday I saw a couple of tweets still using my favourite way of evaluating transfer fees,The Andy Carroll Index. It was people using it to justify the 34 million Fernandihno fee that was being bandied about,ie. City might be overpaying by about 10 million, but its ok because Liverpool overpaid by more than that for Carroll. Pretty sound logic if you ask me. I prefer the other way of using it though,to show how much of a bargain somebody was. Example-For what Liverpool paid for Carroll, you could of gotten 14 Michu's(he was only 2 and a half million you know)
Can't believe is he getting 100K per week at West Ham. Its like he doesn't want to go there so he said "Ye, give me 100K a week & I'll sign" thinking they wouldn't give him it and they gave it to him. He's laughing all the way to the bank!
ANDY CARROLL remains focused on a move to West Ham United this summer despite suggestions he is holding out for a return to hometown club Newcastle United. The Liverpool striker might prefer a switch to the Magpies, but has accepted Newcastle - who have renewed interest in signing Twente defender Douglas - are unwilling to match the £15m offer placed on the table by the Hammers on May 21. And when Carroll returns from his holiday in the United States he will ratify the deal he has verbally agreed with West Ham manager Sam Allardyce. Newcastle are unlikely to have a change of heart by offering to pay more than £10m for a player who will also be given a more lucrative contract to stay at Upton Park on a permanent basis. There is still a belief from within the St James' Park boardroom that there greater value for money is out there, despite selling Carroll for £35m 18 months ago. It is not that the 24-year-old is stalling over his move to West Ham, merely that he has not returned from holiday and there is no rush to because pre-season does not begin until early next month. All parties know the situation and that is why Carroll has made up his mind to stay at West Ham, where he enjoyed a relatively successful loan spell albeit one restricted by injury. He has decided fighting for his place at Liverpool is no longer an option after Roy Hodgson told him there will be a place in his England squad during a World Cup year if he is playing regularly and stays fit. Despite an interest in Carroll, Newcastle are weighing up alternatives even though there is a feeling around the Tyneside club that nothing is close in terms of transfer business. Striker options include St Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Vitesse Arnhem's Wilfired Bony, while Newcastle are unlikely to try to lure Demba Ba back from Chelsea following Jose Mourinho's arrival despite claims. Pardew is desperate to bring in at least one new forward before the start of next season, although he readily admitted last month that supporters should not expect movement too soon. It could be that Newcastle do not make significant progress until the squad has returned to pre-season training as there remains a determination not to over-spend on individuals. That is further highlighted by a refusal to match Liverpool's £15m valuation of Carroll. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sp...set_for_Hammers___not_the_Magpies/?ref=twtrec
Andy Carroll poised for £15m West Ham move Carroll, a £35 million buy from Newcastle United in January 2011, was due to fly back from a holiday in the United States on Monday night to complete the formalities of his £15 million transfer to Upton Park, following a season-long loan with Sam Allardyce’s team last season. The 24-year-old, who scored seven goals in 24 Premier League appearances for West Ham during his loan, is understood to have agreed a six-year contract worth £100,000 a week in order to complete a permanent move to the London club. With doubts over Carroll’s desire to leave Liverpool in order to return to West Ham, combined with the issue of a persistent heel injury, the transfer appeared to be in the balance last month prior to further talks between the two clubs, which resulted in Liverpool agreeing to suffer a huge financial loss on the England forward, who remains the most expensive *British footballer of all time following his move from St James’ Park 2½ years ago. With Carroll on the brink of completing his transfer, which was agreed between the two clubs last month, Liverpool are now ready to make it clear to Luis Suárez that he will not be allowed to leave Anfield unless he forces the issue by demanding a move in writing. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ol-line-up-Iago-Aspas-and-Simon-Mignolet.html
Theyre saying £15 million, personally I think he's over priced at that much alone for what he has achieved since leaving Newcastle, he's only worth £10m in my book but Id happily take £15m He was a massive gamble, one we shouldnt have took but show me someone who hasnt over spent on a bet and lost. Once we learn from this mistake, get as much as we can for him and wish him well. Its important we already have measures in place to prevent this from happening again under FSG. On a more positive note, heres hoping we can bring in another player around the same price as Aspas with the same impact as Coutinho and that will be Carrolls return money spent well.
"Sky Sports sources : Liverpool striker Andy Carroll having a medical at West Ham United." Saw this on Facebook, dunno if true or not as not at a tv to verify
Is he not injured or can they carry out a medical regardless of injury? Actually we once bought an Italian that was injured so I guess it can be done!
