I'm more optimistic today than I was yesterday. Pulis gone from Stoke is almost like a 39th game for us because we were certainties to lose there again next season, if they bring in a manager like Martinez or anyone who doesn't play violent football then we should turn 1 point into 6. If you analyses the points we got this season we are well positioned to improve on it. Man Utd 0 points Man City 2 points Arsenal 1 point Everton 2 points Spurs 3 points Chelsea 2 points That's 10 points from 12 games, I really can't see a situation where we come out of those 12 games with 10 points or less, 4 wins and 8 defeats is an improvement on that. Top 3 is not for budging so its 1 place between Spurs, Arsenal and ourselves. Realistically it will all be down to the start, all 3 managers will be under severe pressure if things start badly, if we start well I think it could snowball from there and make 4th. Slow start and it will be more hard luck stories and Luis heading off to play with Messi or Ronaldo.
Have to remember we were 12 points of fourth and 28 of United and even though the transfer window isnt closed yet to make a proper decision making up 12/13 points is a huge ask in one season when you have 5 very strong squads ahead of us . From talking to a Arsenal fan he is sure from what's coming out of Arsenal that Arsenal will spend big this season . Big ask top 4 IMO . But I believe without Europa league and if Rodgers can sort out the defence as a unit from front to back there's every chance we can turn the likes of Westbrom Villa results around. Transfer chest ? Owners..... £20-30m Carroll...... £15m Spearing.... £3m Coates....... £4m Pacheco.... £2m Assi...... £2m
A bit too early to say where we'll finish for me it depends on 2 factors our transfers & the way the fixture list turns out for us. If the fixtures are kind to us and we start off with the easier sides before luis comes back from ban we could be laughing, if we get the same start as last yrs fixture we could be up againist early doors. The other factor is our transfers if the rumors of us getin rid of 6/7 players and the majority being defensivly minded are true any hope of catching the clubs who have changed managers on the hoop could be out the window. If we can hold on to our core players like Pepe, Johnson & Suarez replace with some of the names mentioned for other positions then we could be onto a winner. I've said it before & will repeat this transfer window is the biggest for LFC for decades.
Ya thats the spirit!!!! Come off it with with your relegation battle. Really at this stage it is impossible to answer but I think we will get 4th, our form since January fills me with hope but we need to keep our best players to achieve it.
our starting 11 isn't bad too be honest. a starting cb and maybe a keeper are the only positions that need serious addressing. after that you need a backup lb, backup cb, DM that will seriously challenge lucas, a cm, goalscoring winger.
It all depends on the fixture list for me, If we get off to a good start anything can happen, we've seen it before.
We won't be catching City/United/Chelsea no matter how good a season this group of players have.Overtaking Everton for 6th and having a still being in with a realistic chance of 4th by the end of April is progress.I'd take that. So many variables in the meantime though-departures,signings,injuries,fixtures.
I think we'll end up 4th or 5th. I said on another thread that had we had Sturridge & Coutinho from the start of the season their goals and play would have really given us a chance to go for 4th and thats not taking into account games we pissed away with crazy defensive mistakes. Everton you can forget about, a couple of good additions and we will be there or thereabouts, regardless of what Spurs get up to they will still rely on Bale having the same season as he did this year injury free. So I'll stick my neck out for 4th.
Looking at it now if we lose Suarez im now thinking 6th is optimistic. We need to keep Suarez and add 2 quality players for the first 11 and then I'd expect we could get 4th but have to add 2 top players but still a big ask and 5:6th might be more realistic
at the moment id say 6th but hopefully the next few weeks we will do well in the transfer market and the first 3 and 4th could look a lot more realistic
I think 5th will be the best we can hope for tbh, but who knows with the right signing we maybe can push for 4th. Here's hoping anyway.
If spurs lose bale they're in trouble and we will be above them. As it stands I'm thinking 5th or 6th but still a few weeks left in the transfer window.plus with the run of games we got until Xmas we could put some points on the board we could get 4th
I think we'll make the Europa Cup, at a push .... unless we end up keep Suarez (happy and playing to form), along with signing at least two, (real) first team players ... which I suspect we won't. If per chance we do and we then manage to keep our first choice team injury and suspension free, then maybe, just maybe, we might compete for 4th.
Hopefully we can sign well in the next few weeks and others around somehow don't get the players they want and panic buy. It would be brilliant for the club to get back in the CL. I feel once we get back there we will kick on and start challenging for the top honours once again. With some luck we can have a good start and gain momentum to take us through a difficult November & December and hopefully we can make a signing in the January window that can have a mid season impact in a similar way that Suarez/Coutinho/Sturridge had when they were recruited in the Winter window.
6th at best. At least 10 points off 4th. Arsenal and spurs will finish ahead of us as well at the 2 mancs and plastics
Sums it up for me.Unless Rodgers can pull off some major coups in the transfer market over the next month or so. Shoot off between the 2 North London clubs for 4th place. The others out of sight well before the turn of the year.
